I thought he played very well for his first time being thrown into the fire last week even if it was McNeese. I thought with Wire out that O would maybe start Charles Turner there but I’m glad he’s giving Hill the chance. Who knows if he plays well Wire might not have his spot to come back to which wouldn’t be a bad thing because he played so much better at RG last year and Chasen Hines just doesn’t impress me out there. Now if we could just find a center that doesn’t get blown off the ball every snap……

I like it. Something positive. Need to bump this thread up on Sunshine Pumping Friday.

Didn't Hines get some time at Center in the 2018 season? If so, and IF Hill continues to look good at LT, what about moving Wire to RG and Hines to C?

If Hills our best option at LT then that’s fine... but gotta say I expected Dumervil to easily be in this position at this point. Maybe he’s hurt. ?

And Dellinger as well, he played a few snaps and obviously a year behind Hill

I thought he did with the #2's when our previous #2 was lobbing the snap back to the QB.

Hill looks competent and aggressive on the line. I like him more than wire. Shanahan is the reason our pockets look like shite and max is always so jumpy the rush up the middle is what’s killing us

Seems like he has several similarities to Saahdiq Charles. I’m not sure what position Bama recruited him at when he was committed there but I think most thought he was a G or C but has the athleticism to play T.

I would like to try Hines at center.
T: X Hill
G: Ingram
C: Hines
G: Deculus
T: Turner
Tackles are supposed to be your most athletic lineman. Nothing about deculus is athletic but he is a big body that I think can do well at guard. Hines should be able to do a better job than Shanahan

The offense can barely get on the same page as is and you want to remove the ivy leaguer?

He did in garbage time, but his shotgun snaps where pretty iffy back then. I’m sure he would do a better job if called on today, though. I would like to see the staff give it a shot.

Thats what he was recruited as and makes sense to put him there. It’s just we need dumervil to step at tackle

I bet one of LSU’s analyst has this thread bookmarked, and trots it out in their meetings, and all the coaches laugh their asses off at the impractical suggestions.

Go look at Shanahan’s run blocking grades at PFF and then tell me again how impractical it is looking into other options at C.

he still struggles with snapping the ball. He played some C late in the last game and every other snap was a bit of an adventure.

I don’t think the Hines at center thing went too well because that’s when they tried converting Joesph Evans from DT to C. Turner is still just too small and not strong enough yet to play in the SEC and he has an issue with shotgun snaps. We are stuck with Shanahan this year O will never bench a 6th year senior from Harvard and there’s no way he sits Deculus either. I’m actually ok with Deculus he’s not great at all but he’s the best we can throw out at RT this year so you go with his experience. That should have been Dumervil’s spot this season but it’s not looking good with him either. Maybe trying to move him inside would help him. We are going to have our bookend tackles next year in Will Campbell at LT and Dellinger at RT so he wouldn’t have a spot there but there’s opportunity at guard. I really believe Campbell could be the extremely rare player that starts at LT his first game as a freshman.
