I like the fact our diverse our offense has gotten

One little gem I remember hearing, last season our WR's had something like 95 catches total for the season (not that attactive)

This year more of the same, about 95 catches to the wide outs.... but, almost 75 carries!

These guys almost doubled their touches from last year and we are doing it effectively! These jet sweeps for whatever reason are loosening these defensive causing DG5 and DW28 to find nice holes right up the middle

My question

Is this supposed to be a triple read option and we just don't have the QB play? Or are these jet sweeps hard called from Canada in the booth. Meaning does Danny know that he's going to hand the ball off on the jet sweep or does he see an alignment issue and then he hands the ball off or what?

Thanks!

Everything is hard called. Very few teams will actually run anything option based unless it’s their scheme. Auburn didn’t even run much option with Cam Newton or Nick Marshall

You heard completely wrong. This season our wr's have a total of 60 catches. This season our wr's have a total of 50 rushing attempts LINK

Sorry man still not true. LSU wr's had 107 catches last season and 13 rushes for 120 total touches. Our wr's have 110 total touches (60 catches and 50 rushes) this season LINK

Do you not think we are running the ball a little better atleast? It's nice when they can't exactly just put 8 in the box because gage/dillion/chark will hit the sweep quickly

Is that 120 touches for the whole 2016 season vs 110 touches this season up till now? If so, I'd expect this season's stats to end up in the neighborhood of 150 touches... which does suggest improvement in terms of just getting the ball into their hands (the WR group).

The increase in # of rushes by WR is definitely a huge difference. And one potential dividend to this strategy is that it will help take pressure off the RBs next year if nobody steps up to fill the void of Guice & Williams leaving.

That's what was in my mind as well. I know it's a simple motion, but watch what it does to defenses. Alabama's safeties had to react to all movement. It was nice to get the defense running sideline to sideline

IMO this is a RPO offense and we are just waiting for a competent QB to throw strikes consistently up the seems and on slants. If he can run all the better, but the first priority is a quick release and accuracy. I don't even think Canada has made it an option for Etling to decide if he wants to hand the ball off or jerk it and sling it. To answer your question, yes, the play is predetermined.

Some of Danny Etlings double clutch hesitations were kind of funny in the second half. Kind has heart but the pressure of the moment makes him shite bricks in the pocket.

Wait till next year!! Dilly Dilly!

Not really. We are just running more with wr's. Teams are still putting 8 in the box that's why the jet sweep is successful the times it does work. We ran for 2,797 yards last year in 12 games at 233 per game. This year through 9 games we've run for 1,881 at 209 per game.

It's up until this point which is what the OP referred to twice. But yea if they maintain the same amount of touches it should end up around 150 after the bowl game. Also don't forget LSU only played 12 games total last year because of cancellation week 1. So 120 touches averaging 10 per game and 89% of them were passes. This year so far it's 110 total averaging 12 a game but only 45% are from catching passes.
