LSU basketball defense has been below average at best ever since Wade has been here

And your point? Wade has even acknowledged that they have not been a good defensive team, which he has vowed to improve this year. We'll see if it happens.

But despite the poor defensive performances, his teams have still managed to exceed expectations in all 3 years, especially in 18-19, when they won the SEC and went to a Sweet 16.

offensive continuity spacing and ball movement were also below average last year.

Oh look, it's another one of those fans.

Last season (since that's what you reference), LSU was top 5 in offensive efficiency according to Ken Pom, which was even better than the 2018-19 team that won the SEC.

Just b/c the offense doesn't look like what you want it to or run the type of system you think basketball is supposed to run, doesn't mean it isn't efficient and effective.

I continue to be dumbfounded by the amount of "fans" on here that bash Wade's offensive approach when his teams have been very efficient on offense since his arrival and has not even been close to an issue.

Wade does throw players under the bus..

Please provide an example (and really I should say multiple, b/c even if he has done it once, doesn't rise to the level of a pattern of him doing consistently). Or are you one of those people that just throws out lazy accusations that are not founded on anything other than your perception?

Wade holds players accountable, just as he holds himself and his coaching staff accountable, just like all good leaders do. And he will use the media at times to send a message. But I have yet to ever hear him just flat out blame a loss or issues of the program on anyone but himself or his staff as a whole.

Hell, even when Waters was "benched" during the 2018-19 season, and rumors on here had it on good authority that it was in large part due to Waters' attitude, Wade still didn't throw him under the bus. He would always say it was just as a way of letting Waters observe the flow of the game before going in.

These are all ridiculous statements.

True

They were the fourth most efficient offense in the NATION last season. If you want to shite on the defense I'm right there with you. But to say the offense was below average last season is grossly incorrect.

Wade speaks better and faster than orgeron .. true

Who cares? The difference is there is NOTHING about the program that is done haphazardly under Wade. Even down to the scheduling, at which the guy has proven to be a master. Ed has big picture ideas of what he wants things to look like, but not enough intricate football knowledge to implement it or how the personnel may or may not fit his vision. Once the game kicks off he is virtually useless as everything (play calling, adjustments, personnel) is out of his hands.

Wade is obsessive about every aspect of the program. It's not that he speaks clearer and faster than O, it's that he is insanely knowledgeable about the game. The guy's ability to rattle off stats, percentages, metrics, etc about opponents is remarkable and shows the depth of his attention to detail.

Certainly he hasn't been infallible by any means (the recruiting questions, consistently poor defense), but what he has done with this program in 3 years is remarkable. He took over a program that had completely quit and bottomed out under Jones. One that had put together the worst conf. record in LSU history in Jones's final season. In year one Wade took an LSU team that was picked to finish LAST in the SEC and beat 6 top 50 teams, including the national runner-up, Michigan.

In year two he won a loaded SEC with a 16-2 conference record (two years removed from LSU going 2-16). In the process he went an unheard of 9-0 in SEC ROAD games. In year 3 he lost 3 starters from the year before, but still managed to finish T-2 in the conference. This year he has LSU slated as a top 25 team going into the season and one of the teams expected to seriously contend for the SEC title...again.

I'm certainly not saying O has done a bad job by any means. However, he did have the benefit of taking over a consistent 9 win program...equaling that level of success in his first two years before the breakout 2019 season, only to now be looking at a MASSIVE decline in success this year. There is simply no comparison between the state of the program Wade took over vs. Orgeron. Most expected it would take Wade a few years to build the program to even just a NCAAT team. Instead, it took exactly two seasons to make them a perennial conf. championship contender and NCAAT team.

Alt, you and I need to grab a beer sometime to talk basketball. Every time I read one of your posts you say pretty much the same exact things I would or do.

Great post!

Are the sanctions against Wade and LSU Basketball still pending?

No sanctions as of yet; but, yes, the case is still pending and was recently referred to the new independent resolution panel for review and decision.

LSU has not chosen to self-impose any penalties as of yet and no indication if they will.

Will likely be another year or so before we know anything.
