Firing your coach never has any impact on sanctions. We can fire Wade and still get hit just as hard as if we didn’t. Firing Hugh Freeze didn’t save OM, firing Randy Shannon didn’t save Miami, and us firing Wade wouldn’t do shite for us. Even if we get hit with major sanctions (which I doubt we will) I’d rather keep Wade and ride it out tbh.,

And they can make LSU vacate anything smart played in retrospectively.
LSU has never been cleared of anything. Even Lipsey, who everyone praised last year, said this when they reinstated Wade. Everyone wanted to get emotional about it but never really wanted to focus on what was really going on.

I can't imagine that Smart could be ruled ineligible without some sort of proof if payment or at least some acknowledgement that a payment was made.
