I think it was a smart move to start Skenes. Johnson knows this team and knows the importance of winning that first game. Those fans complaining about Skenes starting against Tulane would be the same ones roasting the HC had he started another pitcher and LSU lost. Unfortunately, you're not going to please everyone, but I think LSU's season shows we have a very good coach that knows what he's doing.
