Why would SEC allow 11-1 Auburn over 11-1 LSU in Atlanta?

I just don't get it. I know the tiebreaker procedures, but for the good of the conference why would a walking-dead Auburn be allowed to win the SEC title when there is a legitimate alternative (declaring Auburn "ineligable for the 2010 SEC Title pending further investigation") in sending higher ranked, same record, untainted LSU in their stead.

A) Birmingham protects the integrity of the SEC title
B) Birmingham keeps SEC BCS Title hopes alive (LSU would be ranked higher in the BCS than Auburn)

Because Auburn is not in trouble.. yet. What if they were found to be innocent?

would you have started this thread if LSU wasn't 11-1? would this have been started if Ark was the 11-1 team?

by the way, we're only 10-1 right now. dont you think you should be more worried about tomorrow at 2:30?

just a thought.

Well it's an end-run towards allowing an SEC school compete for the BCS title AS WELL AS covering the SEC's arse in regards to a likely forfeited title should Auburn win.

It's not just because Auburn may be dirty, but it's also for the good of the conference conceivably.

No because that is as important a reason for the SEC as the Auburn being tainted.

b/c it's the rules, you can't just throw a team out the SECCG b/c there are allegations against them

Just 10 days ago rumors were running rampant that Cam would be declared ineligible, etc.

It's not THAT MUCH of a stretch should Auburn lose to declare them ineligible for the SEC title.

The only way this scenario would work is if both finished 11-1. The SEC could even just say that they voted to amend conference rules to allow BCS rankings to take precedence over conference tiebreaking records.

Good grief. These are the rules. Stop sounding like Georgia fans. Loser talk is the worst. That's as bad people bitching that we have to play Bama and Florida every year. Pitiful.

Innocent until proven guilty.

They have got to follow the rules.

It's for the good of the conference to change already agreed upon rules a week before the championship game? I would imagine that would open the SEC up for litigation--and I would both hope and imagine they would lose their lawsuit, regardless of what happens with Auburn and the Cam situation. This idea--and thread--fricking suck cock.

Why would the SEC do that? Apparently there isn't enough proof yet to eliminate Auburn. Seriously why in the hell would they do anything to harm a team from Alabama?
