Quinn Johnson is a heck of a player but I think losing Big Herm and Helms has made a big difference also. Losing 2 interior linemen and such a great blocking fullback is hard to replace. It isn't easy for a first year starter to come in and replace star or even solid veteran players.

Helms

You got that right. We have yet to replace the black hole that formed in his wake. I remember watching how he nullified Cody all night last year when we played bama. Then I visualize Hebert against Cody in a few weeks...

Lots of great reasons why "we" can't run the football...but "he" can--R. Shepard. But Miles has to have the onions to use him more (and more), implement that secret "package" he supposedly has set aside for Shepard (who is, btw, a QUARTERBACK), while still starting and using JJ with his skills set.

Shepard needs to play entire drives & not just spot-duty or out there w/Jefferson, and given a few pass plays (which he can make) here & there, and everything changes--IMO, for the better. The Ga. game is the perfect time to begin this & finally take advantage of LSU's great skill position players.

Bingo! plus T-Bob, while in his 3rd yr. has never played a down of college football until this year.

Poor play calling + poor O-line play = little or no run game

We cant run for several reasons:

(1) too much attrition on OLine over last three years and the remaining guys are below average SEC talent with the exception of Black(who has not played well either;

(2) our quarterback is having great difficulty with his checks and audibles and cant get us out of plays and really is not an accurate passer so teams can load up on our formations with impunity;

(3) we have no fullback and no Herm Johnson: and

(4) our center and guards play has been awful;

(5) our running backs have been awful in selecting holes, running with authority and confidence

LSU in the I formation with two tight ends = at least 8 defensive players in the box

Miss St running out of the spread formation (no fullback needed)= about 5 men in the box
