LSU Board of Supervisors is an inept group that have no idea what they are doing. A bunch of rich guys who sit around slapping each other on the back telling each other how smart they are. They have no idea what it means to be an elite program.

Have an up vote.

Understood. What politicians in the state with the most pull to get things done are solid LSU supporters and/or alums the good people of La. should vote for? Who needs to be voted out in your opinion and who are the folks who provide the most hope? Serious questions here.

I've been away from Louisiana for a long time now, so I am not really up on all the current crop of politicians. LSU supporters could inform themselves, though, by checking legislators' voting records, asking questions of them and bringing attention to issues affecting LSU by discussing them with friends, on social media or otherwise. If it became enough of an issue for enough people, the media might also pick up on it and politicians might be pressured to state their positions regarding funding for LSU, BoS appointments, etc.

Other than that, I don't know what anyone can do. The biggest problem Louisiana has (which is saying something) is an uninformed and apathetic electorate, so it's hard to get many of them interested in any issue. For a lot of people in Louisiana, education (at any level) is just not that big of a concern. That's ingrained in family history and culture and is very hard to change. It'd be great if there were an easy solution, but I doubt there is one.

Nuts speaks the truth. Blanco and Jindal's appointees and grip on BOS has been a disaster for LSU.

Jindal butted heads with folks like Alvin Kimble, etc..and fought to block them at every turn,etc..was only gonna have his guy in charge..

The non-LSU Governors fighting LSU Alums over LSU's best interests has had dire consequences.

I'm convinced that with the way Alleva handled the Duke lacrosse situation is the reason why no good coaches want to come here and work for a guy who will sell them out in a heartbeat. Therefore we are stuck with "LSU Guys" for coaches.

Coming from Duke a lot of folks assumed he would bring back the basketball program. He didn't. Coach K is responsible for Duke's BB program.

We didn't need a baseball AD, we did need a football AD and Duke surely didn't provide the example. Non revenue sports? Well who the hell cares? Basically I have no idea why we hired the long nosed, carpet bagging Yankee. Other than that no opinion.

Wonderful analysis. Cultural problem - analogous to why our citizens litter the highways, so many drop out of high school, we put up with I-10 bridge situation at
Baton Rouge for 25 years and growing worse, elect a wimp like Jindal to break the State and LSU, etc., etc. etc. I turned 78 yesterday - the only real change I have seen is that most of our governors since the one that most recently went to the slammer are personally more honest. Louisiana lacks a culture of Excellence in any area. So LSU athletics reflect that. Almost always has, prolly will continue. The only two brilliant football coaches we have had during my days both came from far, far away, and shook up the football system (for a while).
