The highest rated QB this year available in junior college is 3-star pro-style QB Riley Ferguson, who originally was at Tennessee.

6'3" 200 lbs, needs to bulk up some...but so does Harris. I liked his composure in the pocket out of high school but apparently he had problems at Tennessee (guess he couldn't fit in with the toothless-ridgerunner set).

As has been mentioned on this board multiple times before, this is not a problem isolated to Harris. For whatever reason our quarterbacks either cannot or have not been coached to read defenses. They have difficulty with their progressions on passing plays.

Our typical pass play appears to be: lock on and throw to your primary receiver. If he's covered, rarely does the progression go beyond option two. More likely, if the primary receiver is covered the quarterback throws it anyway and hopes he catches it, takes off running, or gets sacked. Our quarterbacks even have difficulty utilizing the throw out of bounds to avoid sacks.

It's difficult to be confident when you know you can't (or haven't been taught to) read defenses, your teammates know it, and the opposing defense knows it.

Ultimately, this is a result of poor recruiting evaluation of quarterbacks and/or coaching deficiencies. I suspect it's a heavy dose of both.

I'm hoping for a Jr. college transfer QB so we can get someone already coached up. Seems to be the only way it will work out

It's pretty sad since LSU is supposed to be an "Elite" program. True statement though.

This guy took Matt Saracen from bench warmer to star. Maybe he is available?

I dont get why people dont want to play to the strengths of the team. that is LF. The coaches knew what they had in Harris. Harris is the guy next year and I expect to see some improvement. But during the off season, it is up to him to continue to work on his game. Go throw routes to dupre and which ever other wrs you want. Coaches only have so much time they can spend with the players.

LSU had problems at the QB position before harris

which is absolutely irrelevant. harris' problems throwing the football accurately to a wide open receiver has ZERO to do with what has happened before. he'd better improve or we are fricked.

I think it comes down to a philosophical dilemma - Would you put the blame on a 20 year old over a staff of 30-60 year olds who get paid gobs of money to put that 20 year old in the best position to win?

gonna be a lot of crow eating next year with this kid...remember how mett looked his first year, then the next he threw for 3k yards...gonna happen with Harris...book it...that is if the play calling is creative... Harris is a player, and very talented, nothing like Jennings or Jefferson. He will be fine...Just needs a play caller to call some swing passes and more slants to open things up...he is throwing into some very tight windows as a soph... next year he will be alot better... Bet we even see it in the bowl game..
