Why do so many fans love Rohan Davey?

I saw the Washington guy's thread, and all the self-loathing responses in it. Apparently, many people who wanted to see Lee start are racist. Someone else brought up a good point that I believe warrants further discussion.

Is there anyone in the LSU fan base who really thought Booty was better than Davey? Do you think people would have preferred 2001 Mauck over 2001 Davey if they were able to have such an option in hindsight?

Because he delivered us from the evil that was Josh Booty.

He's my favorite tiger. I loved his leadership and the way that team really rallied around him.

It's the whole 'love' and 'like' thing. We love all of our players but don't like many of them when they're playing for us. When they leave, the love comes out. That's our relationship with Rohan in a nutshell.

Not a chance did you see Rohan and Mauck play? I like Matt Mauck but he was no where near the passer or qb that Rohan was. Put Rohan on that 2003 team and you would have seem some serious offensive numbers!

Apparently, LSU fans are only racist against quarterbacks, judging by the flawed logic in that thread.

Loved RD, BUT my favorite from Tommy to current is Herb T. Just liked watching him compete.

I have been worried about possible racial aspect to this but really dont think there is that much to it. I think JJ is victim of looking a lot like Jmarcus Russell, although I understand he is nothing like him. He is a hard worker team player etc. The incident this summer didn't help.

My problem with him is just his slow decision making at times drives me nuts. I really think we are going to need them both against bama

Because he threw a bagillon touchdowns to Josh Reed, led us to our first sugar bowl in the bcs era, and to our first secc in a thousand years.

That's what I'm saying man. I was pretty damn young when that game happened, but I still remember how it was.

I'm just scratching my head figuring out how so many racist bible beaters could ever want a black guy at QB.

Rohan was so awesome to watch. It could be 3rd and 20 and as a fan, I wasn't worried, he would get the first down.

Deadly accurate. Incredible touch. Mobile (to a certain extent) Big heart. Team loved him.

Totally destroyed Illinois in the Sugar Bowl.

He did play as back up at New England for a couple of years behind Tom Brady.

Pretty sure this thread is to root out the folks who say JJ is loathed b/c of race.

But I think race does play a part. It didn't with davey b/c he didn't have a bunch of bad performances, get in legal trouble, or supplant the most efficient passer in the SEC

Dang...I liked Rohan when he was here too. Wasn't a fan of Booty when he was here, but I definitely wouldn't wish him a penis in his arse.

Rohan is still my favorite LSU QB.

It just seems for the last decade or so that LSU almost always has a starting QB of one race and a backup of another...and the racist crap comes out.

I remember having one guy sitting behind me in the Jamarcus years saying borderline racist crap and constantly railing about how much better Flynn would be, even when LSU was up 3 or 4 TDs.
