Why did Bill Arnsparger leave LSU?

I was a little kid and just remember us getting much better under him as he set up Mike Archer really well. What happened there. He was only 60 or so when he left. That was considered old for a coach then, but did something go wrong? He was pretty successful for the time.

AD at Florida. He coached there for years before LSU. Dc for Miami Dolphins
