Something that doesn't get talked about much (another poster above alluded to part of it) is that maybe it's not so much how much fun the guys are having playing college ball, as how much fun they WON'T be having playing at the lowest levels of A ball.
Not that I played but a bud of mine from high school did, and I heard plenty about how it sucks. Crappy food, crappy facilities, crappy bus rides to one crappy town after another (all far away from home). The proverbial old man and his dog showing up at your games. Add to that you're making pretty much squat for money after your signing bonus, so if it's 6 of one and half dozen of the other, why the hell not stay for your senior year at LSU if you're kind of marginal at the time? If you're desperate for your signing bonus NOW then that's another thing, but if you're not and you come back another year and improve, well it's still right there waiting for you.
You eat better, you live better, you play in much better conditions, and I can guarantee you the poon in Burlington, IA or Pikeville, KY ain't what it is at LSU

Eades, Jones, and Ross are all going after this year.
Ibarra's stock has risen continuously all year, if LSU makes a deep run I would almost be shocked to see him back.

Eades will be drafted in the first 2 rounds.
Ross will probably be drafted in the top 10 rounds as will Jacoby Jones.
I don't know that I would consider that "marginal" enough to return.

Agree that it depends on what your definition of "marginal" is. For me it'd be the size of the signing bonus, and I don't know exactly where it makes a big jump. If Ross goes in the 10th round and his signing bonus is (pulling this out of my arse) $100K and Eades goes, say, in the 3rd and gets $750K, what does he do? Especially if another year at LSU gives him a chance to hone his hitting skills in a much better environment? Say he comes back and hits .290 his senior year and gets drafted in the 2nd or 3rd with his awesome defensive/pitcher handling skills.
Wouldn't that be WAY worth it? And even if he doesn't improve, he's no worse off than before.

I would be shocked if Eades slipped down to third round. Guy has nasty stuff and can rush it up there in the low to mid 90s. Why would a pitcher that gets drafted that high stay in school for another year. Obviously, if he really loves LSU he could consider staying, but I don't think anyone would expect a kid that is going to get drafted that high to stay.
As far as Ross goes, he isn't getting drafted based on his offensive ablities. His defense is what has him projecting so high. So as far as him leaving now:
Kind of the opposite. As a junior he is going to have much more negotiating power than a senior. If he is a senior he can't go back to school. A team could draft him in the 10th round a literally offer him a few thousand dollars, so that they can give more money to the kids the draft in the first round or two. If he gets drafted in the 10th round as a junior and the team wants him to sign, they are likely to offer him a little bit more money.
