Harper,
Do you think Russell Shepard will be the most accident prone kick returner for LSU in the history of the school?
That's basically what you're saying if you think he'll get hurt.

You allow playmakers to make plays. Special teams are just another way of getting the ball in RS's hands.

holy shite...
why would i say "rs will definitly without a doubt get hurt if he returns kicks"
all i know is coaches will not play a guy like russell at kr and they'll tell you "its because its too dangerous"
apparently ive failed at proving thats a fact maybe all the coaches in the ncaa and nfl are just suckers for urban myth maybe thy've been told by aliens "not to play ultra agile lanky guys on kick returns, it dosent matter. regardless i'm speculating with a shite ton of certainty that rs won't return kicks this season or any season at lsu.

By you saying it is too dangerous to use RS as a KR, you are saying that RS will become the first player in the history of LSU to get hurt on a kick return.

it's group think.
if someone is told something, albeit irrational, for so long, people just accept it and believe it.

also, while your calling almost every football coach whos ever lived stupid please explain why ladanian tomlinson dosen't return kicks and punts
Because, first off - LT's agent would be saying, "Has the sea spray made you all just lose your f&cking minds or please explain to me why this isn't the worst idea since Greedo shooting first?" After that, the coaching staff would find that defending the indefensible is tough when a guy is well represented.

Harper - they're also ignoring that a QB has to be fully engaged with every aspect and every play of the offense. Anything that detracts from that (getting suspended, spending 25 to 30 percent of practice with the freakin' special teams, reps with special teams instead of at QB, etc.) should be avoided.
The fact that he will have a greater chance of getting injured at practice and during scrimmages with the special teams --
I don't know how to say it to the proponents of the idea - every coach in the modern era, ALL OF THEM, the conservative ones, the special teams oriented ones, the radical ones, the "geniuses", etc. they ALL AGREE with Harper and myself.
Please resume your regular rantardly activities.

Joe Theisman returned punts during his first year with the Washington Redskins. You have to get the ball into the hands of your best players.

All modern coaches, huh? What about the coaches of Reggie Bush, Charles Woodson, Desmond Howard, and Tim Brown- I don't recall them getting hurt as kick returners, but I do remember them winning the Heisman.
