trindon if more compact that rs. not to mention, if you lose trindon... no big loss. you lose rs you might be losing your 2nd best qb and a far more versatile player.
and yes, the future of the program.

i don't know that rs will ever be a full time qb.
either way hes got a boatload of talent that all depends on speed and agility

you are aware that there are other positions on a football team beside qb...
right?

it's unknown if he will be the "future" at QB or not..if i had a gut feeling i'd say that he'll just play multiple positions during his years at LSU..WR, RB, QB, KR/PR..The guy has all the skills in the world to make people miss, but his arm is obviously a lot weaker than, say, Garrett's or Jordan Jefferson's..
Either way, though, he will be a playmaker

Can someone tell me the last time someone got injured returning a kick off or punt in college or the NFL?
Posted on 8/27/09 at 10:24 am to ZackMorrisPhone
i can't tell you the name of anyone who's died from smoking at the gas pump but i can still tell you its a bad idea.

Reggie Bush doesn't return kicks because he is fragile....thats a horrible example
Posted on 8/27/09 at 10:35 am to Krypto
They should make kickoff and punt returns illegal because they're so dangerous. Don't you people know that every year teams lose, on average, TEN kickoff/punt returners due to life-threatening injury?

programs FUTURE at QB....
May be a myth but right now, & the way the LSU QB situation has been, I don't want to put ANY POSSIBLE QB out there to return kicks. (well, maybe Jarrett Lee after he throws a pick 6). Special teamers are taught to pin their ears back & go into "Seek & Destroy" mode, I sure don't want any QB standing with his eyes in the air looking for the ball while some backup LB is zoned in on him. Doesn't the QB have enough to worry about without putting him on an island without much protection?
Now if RS is going to be a "utility" player, WR, RB, etc & not be THE QB, then yeah, returning kicks/punts is a great way to use the athlete NOT the QB.

reggie bush: 6'0 205lbs
sheppard: 6'1 185lbs
but your right bush is WAY more fragile. it has nothing to do with the fact that he's an important part of the offense.

Just like size has nothing to do with being fragile. Trindon is small and has taken some hits, but you dont see him hurt like you do the much bigger Bush. And the 185lbs that Shep is listed at is not accurate any more. He has put on pounds.

Zach,
This is a really good point. I think the danger of having a great player exposed on KR/PR is overblown. Especially in a year, when Sheppard is not our starting QB.
Put your playmaker on the field to make plays.
Don't be a conservatard on the football field.

trindon is 5'5" 160lbs that is the definition of compact.

TONS
/sarcasm
shep could be a WEAPON back returning punts/kicks.
fwiw, more people get hurt playing WR/RB than they do PR/KR.
