I'm optimistic. I guess I don't just flow with the crowd and wallow in pessimism. Ther are a lot of good things that are lining up for us.

Put me on your list of people who will be proud of success, not afraid of it

So, does that mean that you will acknowledge said list if they turn out to be right?

I am optimistic about next season. I'm always optimistic. The defense should be better in year 2 under Chavis and the offense can't be much worse. I'm also excited about year 2 with Cooper coaching the DBs. I believe that the secondary will be excellent this year, which may have contributed to JJ's poor performance. Everyone is down over JJ's play yesterday, but seriously, did y'all really think that he was that good in the first place? This isn't new.

As for the schedule, Florida will be tough on the road, but I don't see them being as good as they were last year. Bama will be strong, but we get them at home. The OOC is tougher, but it's not like we added Oklahoma or Texas.

I'm not saying that I expect another crystal football. If I had to lay money on the LSU-Bama game right now, I'd pick Bama. But it's the freaking Spring! A lot can and will happen between now and the UNC game. This team could have 10+ wins or they could break even. For me, the O-line was the biggest question mark, and I believe that they will be better there. Since I wasn't high on JJ in the first place and that seems to be the problem spot, maybe it will force them to not settle for a guy who doesn't throw picks by not throwing the ball at all. I'll remain optimistic.

My take is this. QB situation sucked last year and sucks this year. No sign of improvement. Say what you want about this being just one day. But still no sign of improvement and not hearing anything from the coaches or the players that made me think there was going to be any improvement in JJ. We will have the same qb we had last year.

OL is better.
RB will be as good or better.
DB will be similar.
LB will be similar.
DL will be better against the pass and similar against the run.
WR will be par with last year... different but on par.

So the LSU will have a very slightly better team to field this year. But the results will not show it on the field. Record will probably be the same or maybe worse.

Our improvements on the offensive side of the ball will shine when we play crappy teams. But the teams that are good will exploit our weaknesses at QB and the offensive will again struggle. Our schedule will likely cancel out any improvements over last year.

I think we will be better.

If JLee shows more improvement and we tweak the offense to the teams strength = use the running to run the ball and use use play action we will be in every game.

If we continue to try to force the round peg into the square hole on offense and don't play to our strength we will continue to struggle.

dude if you dont feel this way--go away--its fans like YOU that give us a bad name. I pulled for this team when it was bad and I pull for them when they are good. I bet a douche like you wouldnt have been near tiger stadium in the 90's, I'm not happy going 9-4, but I do realize we have more talent than 95% of other teams.

I am optimistic about 2010. Life is good, I have a great family and job, and I don't sit around making myself miserable about the goddamned meaningless spring football game. So count me as optimistic.

So you list all this but are not in the least a little optimistic? And im really impressed that you got all of this after watching one glorified practice.

That makes two of us then.

My first game from memory was ~1980, and my family has had season tickets for all of my life. I was a student in the early 90's, so instead of sitting in the seats we've had my whole life, I was sitting in the student section. So your assumption of who it is on the other side of the screen that you're talking to is absolutely false and big time failure.

No, it's fans like YOU that make us all look like a bunch of dumb coonass drunks that have no ability to be real and objective. And it's fans like YOU that make other fanbases hate LSU aside from the routine rivalry. I wonder if you've ever even sniffed an LSU classroom much less have a degree? I don't normally pull out that card but if you want to go there, I will and I will raise you one.

Thats right. A better team if only slightly and a record that is the same or worse. Schedule is tougher and did you forget that we almost lost almost every game we played last year? We over achieved last year so we need to improve for par to be the same record.

LSU vs. Tulane 42-0
LSU vs. USL 31-3

At what point were Tulane & USL planning thier big comeback?

Other fans don't hate us because we are delusional like the Gumps. They hate us because we are assholes.

We have too many "sky is falling" types to be anywhere near Fump status.

We are on the complete other end of Gumpness as we have too many people with baseless negativity. I think a lit of us just want us to swing back to a more balanced and normal level of support and perception.

Agreed.

I think a large majority of us want to get back to being the assholes again but Miles has made it extremely difficult. I want to be cocky to other SEC fans about LSU football again, more than anyone on this board.

Well I want that too if we deserve it.
