But who here thinks that LSU is just a “run of the mill” 9 or 10 win team.
I don't. I was 100% on us as a 9-3 team when we got Burrow and Fulton cleared last year (7-5 before we got them), and this year I fully expect an 11-1 team. All the pieces are there, we just need to do it.
As far as "seen its best days", nobody should because that's stupid as hell to think. USC had a 20 year hiatus from being on top before Pete Carroll came. They enjoyed being one of the greatest teams in college football during the 2000s. Texas took almost a 15 year gap pre Mack Brown where they finished unranked more than ranked in that span. They too were one of the best teams of the 2000s. Hell, Bama had a period pre Saban from the mid 90s to mid 2000s, where they had 3 10 win season, but mostly 3, 4, and 6 wins seasons.

roster management issues
This along with the refusal to update the offense was the reason that Les had to be let go.
He still had really good classes but they were filled with skill guys. The o line and d line recruiting had started to take a step back and they never were good at evaluating qb’s. O is starting to fix this by recruiting on a national scale.
Louisiana and East Texas has some great talent but Les got too reliant on them. Those areas produce great Wr’s and DB’s. It doesn’t produce a lot of QB’s, o line, linebackers, or a huge depth of d linemen. Not saying that you can’t get some good to great talent at those spots in Louisiana/east Texas but if you want to build depth you have to go nationally.

10 wins a year in the regular season is a fair standard. 10 wins with a bowl game should not be the standard.

This year is very important for LSU because we need to beat ATM and Florida and establish ourselves as a top 2-3 SEC school. The truth is Bama beats just about everybody not just us. We got out coached and recruited by Saban for 8 years, but he did it to everybody else. We need to break Jimbo's and UF coach hot streak lock up #2 spot that way when Saban retires we can hopefully win another Natty.
