Peterson or Benton (assuming Benton does qualify)
DP may het a leg up on Benton. Thoughts?

Assuming Benton qualifies, I'll say Benton. I know Peterson has been in the system for a full year, but he was extremely raw coming in, and I'm guessing he probably didn't get many (if any) reps with the starting squad this season.

Peterson, I'd wager. He, as you mentioned, has a leg up because he's been in the system longer, and even if Benton does qualify, I personally would be somewhat tentative about making him a huge part of the offense if the grade troubles keep up.

I think Spring Practice is going to be a huge for a few players with DP being one of them.DB missing SP is also going to be a big loss.

Yeah, Benton having to wait until at least June is a pretty big loss... but we'll have to see how many quality reps Peterson gets in Spring Practice. You have to figure at this point he's looking to be behind LaFell, Toliver, and Chris Mitchell at the outside receiver position.
At the risk of hijacking the thread... any word on whether the coaches are looking at Chris Tolliver on the outside or in the slot?

Tough question...I'll say Peterson. Benton is more talented, but coming in June will hurt Benton.
And I think Tolliver will take over Byrd's role.

Tolliver is pretty interesting. He is like many of the Frosh clsss, within the exceoption of a handful, that we don't know a whole lot about.
I'm anxious to know his updated size. He appeared to be well-suited for a slot receiver out of highschool.

Peterson didn't RS ... he was quite the headhunter on special teams.

if peterson is better than benton ill take that with our other talented receivers.jj and shep will have plenty of options.

Not to be a debbie downer, but Benton still isn't a member of the team.
Hope like hell he gets cleared, but with the way this has played out who knows.....

Peterson. He was impressive in practice as a true freshman. (Just not impressive enough to beat out the Mitchells who had much more football/LSU football experience.)
I wouldn't be surprised if he overcomes that this year and is the third WR option on the team.
