Just imagine if he was 6’1.

He would be a lottery pick at around 6’3 I think. But he obviously wouldnt have the handles he does now. The way he starts and stops and puts defenders on roller skates is special.

I hope he's learning foreign languages.

FWIW, I feel like every player leaving early the Rant has cracked this joke about at some point has ultimately made it to the NBA. Mickey, Quarterman, Blakeney, etc.

I think the big question for Waters is how much can he really improve his stock by staying. I don't necessarily agree, but he may feel like staying another year won't really change much for him and it would make the most sense to start trying to earn some money and not give up a prime year of income. The fact that he tested the waters last year tells me he wants to go. But I would obviously love to have him back.

Thought he meant Waters... and I’m not convinced Waters is gone after this season

Me either. And if wade got Waters, Mays, Smart, M Taylor, Days, And E williams all back next year with the kind of improvement we have seen Wade get out of Waters and Williams we can be special. We do need to add some more talented size, but those 6 would be a hell of a lot coming back.

I mean it's really just the law of averages. With the roster sizes of the NBA, the vast majority of good college players will end up overseas, on two-way contracts, or the G-League. So when we have a player that isn't a 1st round lock or lottery pick, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that those guys will not be on NBA rosters.

You mentioned Quarterman, yes he played in the NBA. However, he was not drafted, played in 16 games total over 2 years, and was back and forth between the G-league and NBA. He now plays in Israel. Jordan Mickey, same thing, although he was drafted. Bounced around between the NBA and G-League for 3 years, now playing in the EuroLeague.

Blakeney, same thing. Went undrafted, bounced around between the G-League and NBA all of his rookie season. However, he did finally sign an NBA contract this year.

And there's nothing wrong with that. Players can make really good money overseas depending on where they play. There just aren't a lot of spots on NBA rosters and there are hundreds of great college players coming out every year, not to mention foreign players coming to the league.

True, but I don't think any of those guys would have had different fates had they stayed one more year. Might as well make the foreign languages joke about every Tiger who pursues a professional career and isn't a lottery pick. Even Marcus Thornton spent 2018 in Beijing after a long NBA career.

Kid has improved lots since start of season. If he continues to improve at same rate the rest of season then he will def be 1st rounder

We need a rim protector like Bigby though.
It sucks we only have him for this year.
Just his presence in the lane alters shots at the rim.

Agreed. But if we get Sy and watford to go with Williams and Days we should be pretty good in the post.

I don't see him getting drafted unless he puts up numbers against more NCAA tourney teams, particularly their defensive minded guards.
