I hate when LSU cost us the game.

Anyone who doesn't think that it was intentional grounding in the endzone doesn't understand the spirit of that rule.

QB's routinely throw passes out of bounds when they see the play isn't developing as hoped for. Yes, Cox was trying to avoid being sacked but he was within the rules doing so. He will now go down in history with the worst-looking pass ever in the history of the game, but it was completely legal.

Is this a Mark Richt thing, or has Athens been taken over by football-loving homosexuals?

the missed grounding call in the end zone would have made all of the other stuff a mute point.

It was all much adieu about nothing, raised by a bunch of looser's who were peaked about it.

You, sir, need to read the complete NCAA rulebook

Not really.

quote:

Just as none of us want a ticket for 47 in a 45 the officials should be aware of mitigating circumstance.

Of course we dont, but does that make 47 in a 45 legal. Not so much.

The intent is to prevent a player from grounding to "avoid a loss".

But QBs throw it across the extended line of scrimmage all the time, when out of the box, (which has nothing to do with where the tackles are(but you knew that)) so why is this legal, it definitely to avoid a sack or loss of yardage.

How do you defend your position with this in mind?

quote:

In fact, the book doesn't mention a player "in the area" in regards to grounding

Nope, it doesnt, but if there were....the tackle box rule and the distance of throw are not needed to be defined, because it is just an old fashioned incomplete pass (like throwing at the feet of a RB). Can the QB throw an incomplete pass in your world? Cause that is all it is when a receiver is 'in the area.

May want to bone up on that rulebook yourself.
