So you want a coach to teach someone how to catch a football? This was the responsibility of there dad/pop warner coach.
so why do we need a WR coach?

They've made some tough catches and dropped some easy ones. It looks like more of a focus/concentration issue to me. If you're going to blame coaching for the drops, why not give coaching credit for OBJ's play or the catches like the one Shep made on the sideline Saturday?

I don't know how you coach focus and concentration, maybe playing time should be rewarded or taken away.

Yeah, I mentioned him earlier to make the point that it is a coaching failure. Our best pair of hands is a freshman.

All that said, I'm no negatiger, and I'm loving life as an LSU fan right now.

And my point is how can a guy playing well be evidence of a coaching failure?

Because he has spent less time "developing" with the coaches than the more senior players.

So he didn't need any coaching? He just shows up on campus and is the best we have? That is fascinating to me.

So....should I take that as "Correct, I know it sounds ridiculous, but he didn't need any coaching" ?

It's not just the last few games, it's been going on for at least the last two seasons.

over the past 2 years the recivers have not been hit in stride to often. this is probably why RR drop was so bad. dude freaked out.
go back and watch the games recivers are having to turn back on routes or leave their feet i wouldnt put it all on recivers.

so your argument is his coaching only sinks in to one true freshman and every other WR just messes up on their own?

My argument is in my original post, that it is more about focus, or lack thereof, than coaching.

Is your argument that one player receives better coaching than the others, that a freshman doesnt need coaching to make an immediate impact, or that drops are a product of coaching but great catches aren't?

a true freshman playing better in his first month at school surely doesnt make it look like the coach is teaching his vets very well

why accept mediocrity ? it's all perspective. how many drops WV and KY have against us? It's football and we are currently #1. I"m not worried.

it is not perspective it is a matter of reality as it goes to LSU's goal.

A National Championship team, can not afford those drops. maybe KY and WVU can, but it is in part because of that, neither will play for the NC.

Ok so we've narrowed it down to two choices. Are you saying a freshman doesn't need coaching or that the freshman is receiving different/better coaching than the vets?

That, or you could take it to mean that your point is already answered by my earlier point. Rather than endlessly reiterating myself, I'm resigned to the fact that this argument has become circular and pointless.

Obviously nothing with all the dropped passes.

Hey BANGHEAD ... you're bruising your pea brain

There was a 20 mph NE wind in the stadium Sat.

7 drops in the first 15 passes ... that's a fact that heavy winds throw off a player's equilibrium as the ball rises and falls unusally

But before this game, Lee was @ 70% completions, so relax ... you'll live longer

If it happens this Saturday, then you have a case

Yes, the answer is neither. He's presumably getting the same coaching. He showed up as a freshman with better ball skills than the more experienced players.

The coaches should be doing whatever it takes to coach up the players to catch the ball. Not rocket science.
