We didnt really abandon the 2019 offense last year,it was just watered down and less creative . Just look at the way we got lined up pre snap . It was the same check with me presnap ,it was the same hurry up and run it on 3rd and short. Still never got under center
I just think losing brady and having to play Freshman qbs made the packages less creative, especially when trying to create mismatches. They just dumped it down .I dont remember the tight bunch sets last year.
It was good to see them in the spring game and we also ran some unique motions in the spring game that I dont even remember from 2019.
The play that resulted in the tD pass by mj to the right front pylon of the endzone had some wild motion I dont remember seeing in 2019.
The point is ,I wouldbt be surprised if the plays from 2019 had the same names even in 2020. It was just a lot less sets ,variety ,and the packages didnt line up players in different spots. It's like every personell grouping had each player line up in the same position no matter what.
That's what he wants to get back to is the creativity

I dont know that he got super lucky. I thought it was a hard move to make when he changed the offense after 10 wins and fired canada after 1 year. It takes balls to be successful and still make changes because you know what you want and good isnt good enough

The OP was probably a Tom Herman fan. Probably still believes Herman is a better coach than Orgeron.
Lol.
