in my opinion, in all of my extensive searching, i think Richt loses big games in big ways. I can't recall 7 games between Saban, Miles, Meyer combined (in their SEC era's)that were as bad as the loses i mentioned earlier of his. Again, I don't think it is the losses, just the way he loses, that makes my opinion, in my reasurch to give me the conclusion that he is not an elite coach in the SEC.

Sounds like one pretty selective measure you are using there.

Richt has now beaten all 3 of those coaches by a larger margin than they have ever beaten him. (I wouldn't say any of these coaches aren't among the very best in CFB, for the record.)

To this point (middle of his 4th season in the SEC), Meyer has the exact same record that Mark Richt had at the same point. So how is it Meyer is elite and Richt isn't? That doesn't sound very consistent.

and wouldn't you say because they was a revenge factor involved in all except Miles, and even Miles team wasn't fully under his control that year. you can say what you want about UGA being behind LSU and UF talent wise, but I'm not buying it.

wrong, see SECCG '03. ever is very strong word.

-also, the 'bama game this year was not as close as the score indicated, neither was the '05 WVU, nor a couple of those coctails. Those are BAD losses.

Meyer has the exact same record that Mark Richt had at the same point. So how is it Meyer is elite and Richt isn't? That doesn't sound very consistent.

once again, louder this time IT IS NOT THE NUMBER OF LOSSES I AM CONCERNED WITH, IT IS THE FASHION IN WHICH THEY CAME.

-for the record i have not called Meyer an elite coach.

Saban beat Richt by 21 in that game. Richt beat Saban 29 in 2004.

For whatever any of this is worth.

Oh. How convenient.

Does Richt have any losses that compare to losing to NE Louisiana at home or to losing to a 24-point underdog Ole Miss?

This is a bad argument. You can certainly do this bad losses thing for Saban and Meyer as well.

Personally, I don't really get into margin of victory that much. The object is to win. You do or you don't, imho. Everything else is very secondary.

OK then... Let's look at Georgia/LSU position by position (2001-now).

QB: I'd say edge to Georgia with Greene/Shockley/Stafford. Mauck, Flynn, Davey were no slouches though.
RB: Edge to LSU. Moreno is great, but he is only in his 2nd season and before that, Richt's RBs were pretty blah (and regularly injured).
WR:
TE: Edge to UGA (McMichael/Pope/Watson, '01-'05). Weak TEs since 2005 though. Dickson much better than anything UGA has had lately.
OL: Edge to LSU. Richt had a great OL in 2002 (Jon Stinchcomb, George Foster, Jonas Jennings), but since then he has not had much at all. 11 of 13 '03-'05 OL recruits were off the team by the end of '06. OL was totally gutted, and UGA has been struggling with it since.
DL: LSU. Spears, Dorsey, Williams, etc.
LB: Pretty even. Bradie James, Ali Highsmith... Boss Bailey, Odell Thurman... lots of talent for both over the years.
DB: Pretty even here as well. Again, both teams having produced some great players this decade (Gay, Steltz, Webster, Thomas Davis, Paul Oliver, Sean Jones...)

So, overall, LSU has had a talent edge over UGA. I'll go through Florida/UGA as well if you'd like, but it's pretty much the same.

Lumpkin, Ware, and Jones were certainly no slouches, I'll give ya the WR edge because Tigers have become WRU as of late. but UGA has always managed to stay competitive.

Two words: FLORIDA STATE. Since Richt left they have just sucked. He has not gotten the talent to Georgia that he had at FSU, but when he has had talent, he has killed people with it. Very good coach. Very good head coach? The jury's still out on that one.

He is probably the classiest coach in the conference if not the country.

Georgia was clearly just better than us this year. Stafford is the best qb we have faced in a long time.

Our defense is terrible but I think Stafford and Moreno had something to do with making us look even worse than normal. Still we were somehow in the game all the way to the end.

For some reason, I think we can beat Alabama, we match up better and they are not as good as people think (and Georgia made them look). And if we do that...won't it hurt Georgia fans greatly to think that all Georgia and "the great richt" had to do was do something we did in a clear off year to have a chance to go where we have been twice in the last 5 years.

Thank you very much.

Maybe so, but LSU is still a very good team (looking at a 10-3 (post-bowl) SEC team) with a great coach. Richt/Bobo called a great game.

Georgia was throwing to Michael Moore more than any other WR in the first half. He has never been the first look on so many passes. They clearly saw something they could exploit on the film. That's good coaching.

Eh. Our defense got lazy and let it remain respectable in the 4th Q. The stadium was half empty early in the 4th Q for a reason: LSU really wasn't in the game anymore.

Not really. Expecting to go undefeated over a full season in the SEC is very unrealistic.
