This is exactly what I was thinking when reading. So many people getting triggered by just a segment or two of a show. It was explaining this history people. That is unfourtunately part of the history. I don't think they forced any kind of agenda on anybody.

The people who are arguing this, probably without even watching, are just as bad as the people who argue on the other side. Both sides are kicking and screaming over whatever they can find to be triggered by, and they don't even pay attention to the bigger picture. They just want to be heard.

Bama/Bear Bryant introduced the black athlete to the SEC, but espn would NEVER disparage their business partner (bama).

Are blacks really being exploited though when they’re getting full rides plus other “perks”, many don’t attend class yet stay eligible in big time programs and get paid millions to play a game if they’re really good at it, all the while using college football as their vehicle to a life of fame and fortune.

Such a tragedy I’ll tell ya

Right. I bet Devin White and Greedy Williams feel so fricking miserable once they signed their contracts earlier this year. Used, like a cheap whore. Can barely make ends meet right now.

Yep. We all know these kids aren’t just on scholarship. They’re treated like celebrities and never have to spend a dime of their own money.

College football is a billion dollar business and everyone involved is ok with it.

Let’s not make this some farce like these kids are victims.

Wait a minute here, Gus. Are you saying you can work hard and be successful despite the world not gifting you anything ??

Jesse Jackson once argued that colleges weren't interested in educating black athletes. When universities raised their standards, Jackson argued they were trying to keep black athletes out.

Lesson learned: race-baiting is big business and business has never been better

Fact.

Can't be proven as fact, but anybody with two eyes, two ears, and a little bit of common sense would agree to that as well.

I thought the entire thing was great. It was a cool history lesson on college football. What in the program wasn't just explaining history, wasn't truthful, and was used to push an agenda?

A too large percentage of this fan base couldn’t care less about truth, history or the disparate treatment of black people. It doesn’t effect them and their upbringing makes them incapable of empathizing with the plight of those who do not look like them.

Or...people who work their asses off get tired of others blaming the world for their own situations.

We’ve had a black president for god sake. It’s fime for folks to take accountability for their own lives.

But I get it. It’s so much easier to be a victim, make excuses, and blame others than it is to work hard.

Players are very highly compensated. Sorry it’s not in direct cash payments, but they know the rules before they sign up.

Isn’t the stipends direct cash payments?

It’s hard to really believe that in this country not that long who we had a system that lined young black men up on a platform. Then we measured them, assessed how strong and capable of work they were, looked their bodies over for anything that may limit their value, while they stood there silently waiting to find out their fate. Then rich white men drew straws to see who got first pick, and a trading auction ensued to purchase that young man. And when he was bought he walked off the platform and moved to where the rich white guy lived, and he worked for him until his body was worn and damaged and he was of no value to his purchaser anymore.

Hard to believe. But yes the NFL draft is alive and well. It’s amazing how much just the addition of money takes a process and makes it all ok.

It blows my mind why you people STILL watch ESPN.

I cut the cord 2 years ago and had quit watching it before that.

DONT watch ESPN. It’s that simple.

So how do you watch 90% of LSU sporting events then? Or 25% of Saints games?
