Yes he was on the team prior to, during and after the whammer....whammer was a DH, 1st base and responsible for most of California earthquakes when he slid into second base head first.

I miss the Whammer. That guy was the greatest "dugout captain" ever! What's he up to these days?

Edit: Wait. Don't answer that. I'm guessing about 350?

If that's the case, his son, although on the DL right now, has been absolutely tearing up the AA Texas League this year. 46 IP, 5-1, 1.17 ERA, 42 SO, 17 BB

I met a lot of you at all three games...I was at the crawfish boil right outside the old box...no I'm not Bulldogs Dad...my kid was 3-8 with 3 rbi's and 2 hr's during the UCI/LSU supers. I wish he played more game's at the box....he still might be playing.

Man, I wish I was there, if for no other reason than to drive up with about 200 cases of beer in my car and hand it out to LSU fans. That would just about make us even!

You too? The brother's name was Matt. He had several of my beers too! A really nice guy.

I know I was there because I have the ticket stubs, but after about the 5th inning of the first game, it's all a blur. I couldn't walk 10 feet without having a been shoved in my hand. 50 feet got me a plate of jambalaya and/or a bowl of gumbo.

I live in the Dallas area, so any time UCI comes within an 8 hour drive, I go see them. I am really, really glad I did so in Baton Rouge. I got to experience the end of the old Box, and that was special in spite of the ultimate outcome.

I'm thinking very seriously of coming down for the Fullerton series next March. I'm in grad school right now, and that weekend is the beginning of spring break for me, so it works out perfectly.
