That entire wall of text and you missed the point. Merely playing Vandy gets us an RPI boost.
I’m not the one who missed the point.

OK.

1. Do we get a bigger boost from an MSU or Vandy win tonight?

Answer: MSU

We get a bigger boost from winning a game than our opponent winning a game. We are more likely to beat State than Vandy. State winning tonight and Vandy beating us tomorrow is a net loss. State losing tonight and us beating State tomorrow is a net gain.

LSU has been here before. Cartwright as a freshman is one that comes to mind.

Cartwright was Beck. It would be a pleasant surprise, but it would not shock me, if Beck started a game and threw 7 innings a la Cartwright. There is no one of that level in our pen.

It’s possible, but if Ripoll, Moffitt, Threadgill, and Costello hold down Vandy or State it will be the biggest LSU baseball story since we beat Aggie in their regional in the 1980’s.

We want whoever burns up their pitching staff and has a starter that's erratic in the early going tomorrow. I don't really want to be in a slug fest with either of these teams but I think I'd rather take my chances in one against Miss St. They're not as disciplined at the plate as Vandy. Miss St will give up a lot of outs to bang - Vandy will square alot of balls up.
