We need JJ to win a title this year.

This entire season comes down to beating Alabama. That game will be the typical close-to-the-vest, extremely physical, warp speed slug fest. Bama and LSU are practically mirror images of each other, with spectacular defenses and adequate, ball-control offenses.
One problem we face is that Bama has the best offensive player on both sides of the ball, Trent Richardson. So, how do we match that?
JJ provides the X-factor in this game for the Tigers. That's why the coaches were interested in getting him involved as early as possible, so he will be game ready come Alabama. Go back and look at what we did against Bama last year. We ran for 225 yards against that defense that otherwise only gave up 100 yards/game on the ground. JJ softens up the middle of the line ever so slightly, but just enough to maybe find some space for our RBs. Jordan also had good numbers in the air last year, going 10/13 for 141 yards and 1 TD. I can tell you he will see significant playing time in the Alabama game because the coaches believe he gives us the best chance to win that particular game.
I love Jarrett Lee and JL will love JJ if he can help us get that victory in Tuscaloosa. Why would anyone have a problem with different players helping us achieve the ultimate goal of a national championship?
JL has been the man for the first 5 weeks and will continue to be so in the near future. But, in a tight ball game, we will need JJ to provide us with a slight edge over Bama.

I thought it was all about the TEAM? Can't have it both ways.

So far in his career, JJ has played great against Bama.......We need both of these guys in some form

That's EXACTLY what this is about. Some match ups require certain players to step up, others require different players.
I guess to be extremely precise I should have said we need JJ, among others, to win a title this year. My particular point was in discussing the need for JJ in the Bama game to loosen up the Bama defense, but whatever. Obviously, we will continue to need the defense to play lights out, to get great play from the RBs, for the WRs to continue to improve, for the O-line to play great, etc.

I still think we need both of QBs. Lee has a good heart and knows when the other player can do better. So does the team, so that's Lee's strength right now. I will say, man did that option look good last Saturday - It was fun to watch the two or three plays. last year i was dying for Les to kill it as a standard play. But looking at how fast we got the 1st downs - it was impressive.

Totally agree. He had a good game last year and we beat Bama. Foolish to think we win this game playing one QB the whole time.

LSU will have a very difficult time running the ball against Bama. They're gonna have to vertically stretch the field to set up the run. Lee is our best threat to do that, provided the receivers other than Beckham learn how to catch. A quarterback like Jefferson who can't throw is basically just another running back, and we already have plenty of those.

EXACTLY...who does Bama put in if their starting qb goes down?...a qb that hasn't played very much at all up to this point...and they have to put him in a game of significant importance?...I like our chances having two available qb's...just saying...

We need both QBs. Frankly, I have not heard anyone say differently.
There is the right time for some things and the wrong time.
The fist series of the first game back, was the wrong time. It is that simple.
