This whole conversation is useless. Miles will get at least next season to mark improvement. If the guy goes 9-3 and finishes second in the SEC West they'll keep him. It would a nightmare from a PR standpoint. The only way they could justify it would be cite incompetence because you'd essentially be saying 9 wins aren't good enough. Find a coach that feels comfortable entering that situation and I'd call him insane.
Miles will be here probably for two more years. The guys got to really tank because not only do they have to buy out Miles but every one of his assistants which will be pricey.
Get used to Miles and hope he just hires competent people on that side of the offensive ball to help balance his propensity for lunacy.

May not be cheaper if we keep losing chances to play in big paying bowl games. Not to mention season ticket sales and LSU gear.
Ticket sales aren't going to decrease. And, SEC teams only keep 30% of the bowl payouts. The rest are put into a pool evenly distributed by the conference.

I say we kill him!

Biker #3: I say we hang him, *then* we kill him!
Biker Gang: [shout] Yeah!
Biker #4: I say we stomp him!
Biker Gang: [shout] Yeah!
Biker #4: Then we tattoo him!
Biker Gang: [shout] Yeah!
Biker #4: Then we hang him...!
Biker Gang: [shout] YEAH!'!
Biker #4: And then we kill him!
Biker Gang: [shout] YEAH!'!'!
*muffled* I say we let him go!

So the decision is:
Bite the Bullet
Continue the Slide for 1 year and bite the bullet next year
Continue the Slide for multiple years and then bite the bullet
What do you do? The fact is LM is not a program builder. He's a program rider. He will never build this program back up. From day one, we heard from various players about how much more relaxed everything was and how the assistant coaches had more time away from the game, and how easy going LM was, blah blah blah.
Well that defined the process as a loose ship. LM was known as a player's coach.
How long to player's coaches last in the NFL?
3 to 5 years for a "player's coach" is long term.
This ship is sinking. Just trying to bail water at this point. Reminds me of a situation encountered on a fishing trip in Grand Isle.
This is a true story:
Anchored along the sand bar off Caminada Pass, had a few lines out for bull red. Notice a small boat headed in from offshore, was about 3 miles or so out. A few more minutes passed and I noticed some debris floating on the water approaching the pass. The floating debris was maybe 1/2 mile away. I asked the guys what it was and was it there before. Everybody assumed it was trash on the water, such as an empty ice chest. So, I kept looking at the debris and it started moving. I told the guys to pull up the lines and let's check it out. As we got closer a dude was clinging to an ice chest and waving his arms frantically. We pulled up and pulled him him. Had been holding to to ice chest and treading water for like 15 minutes. Could not catch his breath, but managed to tell us there was another guy, and could he borrow a cigarette. Could not actually breathe yet but still wanted a cigarette. None of smoked so out of luck on that one. We motored over to the other guy and pulled him him. He was treading water but could reach the tip of the bow as there boat sunk stern first. They were in about 22 feet of water.
Here is where the story gets interesting. I asked how they managed to sink the boat. They claimed they were fishing offshore about 12 miles and the bilge pump failed. So, I pointed out that the bilge pump should only be running if the hull has a leak. They stated the boat had been leaking for years, but the bilge pump usually kept most of the water out. I then said we need to get the coast guard over to salvage the boat. They said no need, the boat was old anyway. How old? 1965 model. This occured in '97. So, I said let me get this straight. You guys went 12 miles off shore in a 1965 boat w/ a known leaking hull and depended on the bilge pump to keep you from sinking? The answer well yes. So as we are shaking our heads in amazement, they revealed the life jackets were locked in the bow of the sunken boat along w/ the keys to his truck.
I promise you all of the events are true.
So, I will end w/ this ship is sinking. It's got to be repaired. Only hiring a new OC is equivalent to installing a new bilge pump in a hull that is not seaworthy.

So i guess Carrol and Stoops should be fired too.
Dude, congratulations on being on of the five idiots that supports this guy.
Stoops and Carrol didn't suck last year either. 8-7 in last 15 conference games. Do you get it? Nope.
You keep posting that all of this Miles Bashing gets us nowhere. Same with your unfounded support.
And since you are so good with one liners....just answer this:
If Miles gets fired, what teams are calling his agent and begging (offering him 3.8 mill) him to come?
Can you answer that question?
