Jabari was a JUCO guy.

I don't think you will see any JUCO guys like Kedrick Brown or Jaime be signed by LSU.

LSU's last coaching staff had all those connects to the JUCO ranks...especially Kermit Davis.

Jabari Smith was not from Louisiana.

Why do any big recruits have to come from only Louisiana? Isn't this one of teh criticisms that is always launched at Brady? that he could only win with Baton Rouge area talent? Well. Stromile was from Shreveport, a long ways from BR.

I'm not sure we're screwed, but I do know one thing: The SEC will rival any conference in the country next year.

Ole Miss will be HELL to play. They lost one of the best players in the conference to an injury, and they return a nucleus that's very strong. They're my pick to win the West.

MSU returns everyone from an extremely young and talented team. Assuming Varnado returns, they will be tough.

If Alabama finds the right coach, they have some pieces to make a run.

Arkansas was competitive this year. Next year they'll be more than competitive. Some, if not most, of the close losses will turn into close wins.

Auburn won't be as good. They lose a lot.

In the East, Florida returns everyone and they add Kenny Boynton. They'll probably win the league next year.

Tennessee loses Tyler Smith, but Pearl has recruited well. They'll be there in the end.

USC returns Devan Downey.

If UK returns Patterson and Meeks, they'll be much improved with Daniel Orton coming in.

Vandy was young. If Ogilvy returns, watch out.

The SEC will have multiple sweet 16 contenders, and even several final four contenders. I think we can contend, but I'm not expecting much considering the road we will have to travel.

That is a good assessment of the league next season. We will have some talent and will be competitive. The key will be to land a JUCO or foreign player who is college ready to play center or forward.

The contributions of new players throughout the league is an unknown. Some highly rated players will not be great right out the chute. Jamychal Green would be an example this year. Then you may have that total unknown such as Chris Warren at Ole Miss who was spectacular last year. If Aaron dotson could be a similar player it would be great.

If Dotson is similar to Warren, we'll be in the tournament next year.

Tasmin will probably average around twenty. I look for Bo to average around fifteen. That's a lethal tandem.

I'm probably in the minority, but what little I saw of Garrett Green really has me excited. He's 6'10 230 or 240 with a really nice jump shot. He's also a fluid athlete. I thought he would lend us quality depth and possibly start this year. Assuming he comes back 100% healthy, I'll put us at pre-season 3rd in the West.

If he steps up, Storm Warren can come off of the bench, and I really like him in that role. I'm not expecting much from Delwan or Dennis Harris. I think Chris Bass will develop into a better point guard than Bo Spencer, and I like him coming off of the bench.

I also think everyone is under-estimating Eddie Ludwig. I liken him to a poor man's Kyle Singler.

All of this started with the "we are screwed next year" which is not the way to start a topic. This sounds like doomsday for next year, the day after this season ended. I don't think I have ever seen the rant so positive after a loss, so right now, we don't need this negative posting. Sure, we will miss the senior leadership, but I think Trent is a good player's coach, the players will be better simply with him coaching...I just feel more confident with his approach for next season and beyond. Let's keep positive vibes for our basketball program...

Yeah, the recruitment of Green was scoffed at by some despite the fact he was a top 100 player. It will all depend upon his health. Johnson will push him to develop. We may need to be patient with him as he clears teh rust from a year of inactivity. Tasmin didn't really get rolling until about conference time after missing last season. We could still use another big body in the middle from either JUCO or a foreign player. But it should be someone ready to play a big role, not just a body to fill out the roster.
