We have a major void of Quality QB performance. At LSU, we should never struggle this badly. Has Miles failed to sign the right player? Has he failed to properly develop them? Has he failed to game plan effectively with his QB talent? Any way you cut it he has failed and needs to be held accountable. The money he makes demands better performance than a starting QB who is 0 for 7 games in TD passes yet can fumble and throw interceptions. This is LSU, not some junk program.

we run an awful offense that it is hard to attract big time QBs to, and when we do get them, we move them to WR.

One of Miles only weaknesses in recruiting the QB position. No one good since RP. His OC should help with QB recruiting but doesn't.

RP was rightfully kicked off the team.
Z. Lee signed with the Dodgers(can't really blame a kid for that).
JJ and JL just haven't been developed(coach's fault but also they are ELITE QBs).

Hopefully Mett signs with us and Rivers gets a couple of years to learn. That should shore up the QB situation for a few seasons.

we arent desperate according to Miles. he likes the skillset and the competition of each QB. he enjoys their improvement

it's really pretty simple if you think about it.

Louisiana hasn't produced shite at the position since RP. LSU, like all schools, heavily relies on in state talent. pulling bigtime oos qb talent is very difficult. who was the last Louisiana bred qb to start, much less star, at qb in the nfl? JJ was the top rated Louisiana qb when he graduated....JL was a top 5 Texas qb when he graduated...Zach Lee was a top 5 Texas qb when he graduated...and Chris Garrett was a highly rated Mississippi qb when he graduated. Miles' biggest get,RP, destroyed the qb progression at LSU. hopefully Mettenberger and Rivers can rebuild the positions strength but what really is needed is for Louisiana to start producing bigtime talent on it's own.

Let's see since 2007 We have recruited a total of 4 QBs.

1 was moved to WR (#1 all purpose athlete in class)
1 was asked to leave the program
1 signed with the LA dodgers for a record setting offer from that organization.
1 is your starting QB who is at best a 3rd string backup (JJ)
The others we recruited were dual-threat athletes playing QB and were all converted to either RB/WR. (Ware, Randle, etc)

THIS.

It's a goddamn joke and if I wanted even a "chance" to play on Sundays as a qb...I certainly wouldn't come to LSU to have my talents "showcased"

You honestly think JJ is an elite QB?

pretty sure he meant to say aren't. with better coaching I think either could have at least been good, though.

RP no explanation needed.

Zach Lee played Les like a fiddle and we had no plan B.

I think we are just upset with what we have seen the last few years. Miles has had BAD luck with the QB spot. He recruited RP, who knew it would go the way it did? ZL took the money, who knew FOR SURE he would? JJ was a very good prospect but also considered to be more of a project. JL was considered to be a very solid QB.

That said, UF had CN, you think that when he came to UF they ever imagind he would be vying for a Heisman, with Auburn? You think that UGA thought that Mettenberger would currently be at a JC? BTW, Auburn hasn't had a QB since Campbell. CN fell into their laps. When was the last time UF had a bonafide RB? Bama just again regained relevance, GM is no world beater. As great as Saban is, Bama currently suffers at his best specialty: Their Secondary. I know we hate to see us having such bad play offensively but it really is only compounded and magnified because we play in a conference that has had an AMAZING ammount of success recently.

UF has won 2 titles around our last, Bama has won 1 and was undefeated going into the SECCG the prior year. Auburn emrged this year and currently is the only undefeated team in the SEC. UM historically is a waaaaay better program than LSU, you think they wouldn't have wanted to trade success with us this decade? Oklahoma is BIG TIME and consistantly only comepete with UT for Big X supremacy, how many titles do they have this decade?

Hopefully this QB situation will get sorted out, until then, we have what we have. Support this team and pray for some lucky wins. I am guilty as most on here for talking shyt about coaches and players. Last night I really analyzed some of the other Big Time programs and measured LSU against them this decade.

My question that I came away with is this. When did LSU become so BIG and so ELITE that sitting with a 7-1 record, coming home with a bye, playing Bama of all teams, when did we become so big that this position was a disappointment. Do we really not think that other SEC field as much talent as we do? Do we not think that we will ever lose to better and sometimes even worse teams than us? Everyone that watched that game saw what has been talked about and hyped ALL SEASON. CAM NEWTON IS AS GOOD AS ADVERTISED!!!

We lost, we are 7-1 with a bye then BAMA. Win, lose, or draw, we know what we have at the QB position. Hopefully we win out, if not, we will not have done anything that no other BIG TIME program didn't

This problem dates back for a long time.

When was the last time LSU has had a long-term sure fire deal at QB?

Herb Tyler was the last 3+ year starter. After that, we had the Booty/Davey/Nall rotation for 2 years, followed by a year of Davey. Then, Mauck (statistically a poor QB in 2002) for half a year, followed by Randall and CLAUSEN.

Then a year of Mauck.

Then, Randall and JR for a year of inconsistency.

Then JR for a year.

Then Flynn for a year.

Then Hatch/Lee/JJ for a year of inconsistency.

JJ is the longest-term starter since Herb, I believe.

Why does LSU have a long-term history of not being able to keep QBs around?

Our qb situation would not be this terrible had RP never been kicked off the team. I am not a huge Miles fan but he knew that kicking RP off the team would set him back at the QB position and he made the tough decision any way.Had RP stayed jj and jl would have both been given the chance to mature and i do not believe we would be having this conversation. And z. lee left for the money cannot blame miles for that one.

For the love of god, it would matter if we had Tim Tebow, the coaching is the problem. Lee has been here since 2007, JJ since 2008. Neither has gotten better. RS has been here for two years and he still can't read the playbook to throw a pass.

I guess all three are dumb and this has nothing to do with Crowton or Les.
