The first time I sat down and watched a football game with my old man was when he came in relief in 99 (Dinardo’s last year) and carved up Arkansas.

I really try not to be a spoiled fan, but that was a hell of a time to enter the fandom — basically started following at the front-end of the rise of the golden age.

I was at that game on the 40 yard line (lower section) dead in the middle of all Alabama fans (one good friend with me). I couldn't see an LSU fan for 2 sections minimum, and it was just another couple of fans like me in the Bama section.

I remember Bama having a bad secondary, and I told all the gumps prior to the game, All during the game, and as they were leaving the game, that Reed was about to "Go Off".

If I had a dollar for every gump that wanted to punch me in the face that night, I'd would have retired that night.

I have this game and post-game on College Scoreboard Final. Hearing Trev Alberts and Mark May just taunt Alabama in the commentary, "Davey to, Reed!" many many many many times today. At the time, this was the SEC record.
