all you people criticizing crowton, after three quarters, lsu had:

total yards - 244
rush - 103
pass - 141
t.o.p. - (lsu) 23:04, (bama) 21:56

those are very respectable stats against one of the very best defenses in america. but keep harping on the mistakes as if lsu is the only team that makes mistakes.

the loss of jefferson was too much to overcome because we are thinnnnnnn at that position.

hitting the punter in the game was stupid. That player should never have even been on the field.

Just a minute there Africom, that was as good a selling job by a punter that I've seen in some time. Graff is one hell of a special teams player! I think if there was any touching of the kicker, it was the material on Graff's pants leg that nip a cleat on that punter. And, you should know tht it was never going to be under review and if it would have; the drunks up in the Analog, non functional play review room had to much bear stuff, red and drunks working for that other group that calls themselve's a team of integrity???

I agree on the loss of JJ. Until he got injured I thought the offense did damn good against one of the best D's in the nation. Couple that with losing Scott and it was tough.

Every team seems to have stupid penalties. Ours just seemed to be at the worst time. Like Barksdale flinching. That was just killer. Or lining up wrong on the long pass to Lafell.
This O has gotten better of late.

losing scott shouldn't have been that big of a deal because we are loaded there. i honestly don't know what's going on with kwilliams but there are others who are very good backs. heck, put holliday or shep back there.

i'll say this again for crowton bashers: lsu had the lead in the 4th quarter and was performing well against a very, very tough d. what if mcelroy, ingram and mclain went down at that point? no way does bama win that game. not in a million years.

Saban had two illegal substitution penalties on his team. He needs to get his act together, or at least get rid of his oc.

Why everytime there's a discussion on something LSU has trouble with, Saban having trouble with something also has to be brought up? No one gives a shite about Saban.

maybe it's because miles gets beat to death on the rant and compared to the "greatest" coaches like saban. we all know that the greatest coaches don't make mistakes like miles does.

Because Saban is always the coach people compare Miles to. I'm sure we could find several Meyer or Carroll screwups if we wanted to. There's no such thing as a perfect coach.

But LSU does consistently over the years have trouble with illegal formation and penalties such as that. Sure Saban has some troubles too, everyone does, but I care about LSU and am hoping they can one day fix them. Talk about Saban on the SEC board.

this is my point. all teams make mistakes. they just don't all make the same kind of mistake. every team has fans saying the same thing, if we could cut out x mistakes, we'd own the world. it has been pointed out several times that florida was one of the most penalized teams in america last year. how did that turn out for them?

Crowton's teams usually perform well year one and decline each year after until he is fired or encouraged to leave. Bears - BYU - Oregon- who replaced him with Kelly and the offense blossomed. GC needs to go.

But it's just not fair to the players to not have better organization than this in such a big game.
We have poor coaching at the coordinator and position coach level and poor management at the CEO level (Les).

The problem is systemic.

this statement is deceptive

Bears, oregon - he was only there for two seasons. do you really think any broad conclusions can be drawn from his offenses from that?

byu - head coach. huge, huge difference

All that needs to be said is that we are LAST in the SEC in total offense. There is no excuse for that. Crowton should be replaced but unfortunately I think he will be back.

you seriously can't see the improvement over the last few games? for whatever reason, there was a problem with the o line early on. they appear to be getting better and now the offense is starting to improve. stats aren't everything. playing the top 2 defenses in the conference is going to hurt the stats despite the improvement.

Maybe we were intentionally trying to confuse Bama's defense.

I sat down last weekend to watch what I thought was going to be a great game, matching a team with incredible athletic talent on offense against a grind-it-out type of team with a great defense. Division game, rivalry over the years, etc.

I saw several illegal formations on our offense, some incredibly untimely motion penalties on experienced players in the backfield and on the line--- drive killing stuff. I was thinking "How the heck does this happen with a supposedly great coach and experienced players in a division game?"

Then the Saints came back and won handily.
Point being, complex offenses are prone to such issues.
Do I wish Crowton would simplify things some? At times, sure. But good gravy, folks, the sky is NOT falling. Even the best NFL offense, possibly ever if they continue on pace, has these types of issues.
