A few years ago we vacationed in the Pacific Northwest and we spent a couple days in Port Angeles. When you drive up the mountain in Olympic Nat. Park it is quite a drive. While only 11k feet or so, you need to remember you are starting at sea level. When you drive up to 13k feet in Colorado you are starting at 8k. The coolest thing I saw in Port Angeles though were these huge Japanese ships that were loading these huge logs. We were told that these huge ships would leave Port Angeles loaded with logs and they offload finished lumber when they returned to Japan. The complete transformation of logs to boards was done on the open sea.

We have 3 rooms at the Silver Cloud University and 3 rooms at Travelodge Space Needle. Not sure which one we will use. Silver Cloud has shuttle service for a 3 mile radius. It depends on sightseeing activities.

lsu1980,
Trying to round up enough Tigahs to do a little impromptu tailgating - even if it's at the hotel or over on the campus. Interested? Suggestions?

Going Thurs-Monday. Staying at the Hampton Inn in Downtown Seattle. I heard that school will not be in session then. I think UW is on the quarter system, so maybe tickets will be easier to come by since students will be gone. I hope LSU will request as many tickets as possible. This is going to be a huge game with lots of Tiger fans wanting tickets.

I got a room at Silver Cloud as well. Seems like a slam dunk since its within a mile of the Stadium! The public transit system is great so going downtown shouldn't be an issue.

According to their ticket website, end of July single game tickets go on sale. So, if you're not one of the chosen ones of TAF, maybe we can fill up a couple of other sections outside the LSU allotment.
I just put that date on my calendar! I am going to scoop up 2 tickets just to make sure I have them. If I can get some in a LSU section, then I will sell those!
According to the website the visiting sections are:
The traditional visiting team area is located in the West End Zone; sections 4 and 6. If visiting teams request more tickets they will be placed in additional areas in the west end zone and other sections if necessary.

Everyone keeps talking about seeing the Olympic Peninsula, but you should also consider at least a day trip to Eastern Washington. It's the exact opposite of what most people think of the PNW - high desert. shite looks like where the spaceship crashes at the beginning of Planet of the Apes. Pretty cool and it's a straight-shot 2-3 hour drive on the interstate.
Wine country over in Walla Walla is pretty cool too.

I highly recommend a drive through North Cascades National Park. They have some weird limestone shite or something that makes the water look like this:
It's really strikingly green/blue in person.
The Grand Coulee Dam is pretty sweet too:
One really cool place that people like to visit is Leavenworth. It was an old mining town that was about to go under, so in 1950 or so, they just decided to turn themselves into a replica of a Bavarian Village in order to attract tourists. You can take a train through the mountains to get there:
I mean, look at this crazy shite. It's not at all what you expect when you think "Pacific Northwest":
