The former Southern Cal linebacker?

I was thinking more in the lines of HC at Jax, but yes.

WOW! So no need for that highly ranked 2010 signing class?

you might call me a few expletives after saying this? but, Gerry DiNardo could do better with the O. Talent coming in than L.M.

Why exactly does he keep popping up as a LSU coaching candidate again? LSU tatooed his beloved Trojans in 1984.

I don't know and I wasn't on that wagon, but on here, his name popped up a good bit.

Because supposedly he said one of the many times Saban was rumored to go to the NFL that he wanted the LSU job. He played for the Saints and his wife is from La. I think his daughter went to LSU. He may have just been using it as a negotiating tool with Jaxville.

It may not have been such a bad hire, but who's to say?

This debate is stupid. Miles was picked because if I remember correctly, their first couple choices weren't available or weren't interested. Its been a few years but if I remember right, which is probably not correct, but weren't Jack Del Rio and Butch Davis considered?

Anyway...doesn't matter. Miles has done well enough that most school outside the SEC hierarchy would never consider letting him go. LSU lost 2-2-2-5-and 1 so far. I'd say he is doing pretty damn well.

If he loses more than say 3 this year, I'd start scratching my head. Regardless, unless he absolutely tanks the rest of this year and next, Miles won't be going anywhere except on his own volition anytime soon.

Next topic.

They also get their asses handed to them when they play a fast, spread offense SEC team.

For example when Michigan played Florida in the Citrus Bowl in 2007.

Makes me also think back to all of those who wanted Jack Del Rio.

I'm not one of those. I do not remember being excited about anyone that was actually available

I was pleased with the Saban hire (because to win in Sparty is to win with a team like South Carolina or Texas Tech).

I was meh, meh, and meh about Miles.

He was the right person for the job. Saban wanted Coach Nutt to replace him.

I think Del Rio was. Davis was a popular name among fans, but he quit the Browns that year after a nervous breakdown. His drs advised him not to coach fora year. He took 2 off. So no he was not available.

No thanks, Nick.

Actually, what is needed is an offensive coordinator who is at the same level as our defensive coordinator. You keep seeing progress from game to game on defense. The offense has been the same shitty thing all season.

Besides the fact he didn't really win at MSU, your comparison is not really valid. Mich State won the Big 10 and went to the Rose Bowl in 1987, 8 years before Saban was hired, not exactly ancient history at that point. They were also co B10 champs in 90. Also while he as at MSU, Northwestern won back to back B10 titles and won 10 and 9 games.
