He should have focused on the task at hand.....and maybe, just maybe he runs the correct play? JMO

It had worked all night. Clock management was perfect. One play to win, no time left on the clock. Everything was set up for the RB to go to the left, and he screwed it up.
It did work well the others times. But they weren't at the 1 where the D was packed into a tiny space selling out for a run up the middle. The only play I saw Guice screw up on was the one that we haven't run in quite some time. He had the fumble, but that wasn't because he went in the wrong direction.

3rd and goal was not a bad play call. If he gets in great, but it was a set up for the 4th down play which was supposed to be a fake to Moore up the middle and and a pitch to Guice going outside to the left. The DE crashed on the fake like he did on the 3rd and goal play and he got Moore. If Guice runs the right play, he walks in untouched!!

Guice screwed up big time in the 4th down play. He was supposed to go left on pitch. Instead he got confused.

was more concerned when we ran the fullback dive at the goal line with the whole UF D packed in tight leaving us with one play
It had worked 3 rides in a row with the whole UF defense lined up over the center. Why not try again?

Wrong board. Sorry.

That end zone had the Florida fans and band. They wasn't going to be quiet.

The thing about 3rd down is that full back dive play was our best short yardage play all day. It worked every time before that on 1 yard to go situations where we weren't picking up anything with the tailback in short yardage spots.
There is a significant difference between 3rd and 1 on the 41 and 3rd and goal on the 1 yard line with Florida DL-men packed in tight expecting you to run the play that you've used all day. That is precisely when you run another damned play.

Because the game was on the line and they were looking for and got that play. We know that outcome.

LOL because they weren't looking for it after the first one?

You shouldn't use a play to set up anything when you only have two plays left to win the game. Look at the still picture from that play. It's possible that he could have gotten in, but #8 from UF was waiting by the goal line and there was no blocker for him. It would have come down to who won the battle on that play.

Well, his screw up sealed O's fate.......I have to believe that's eating him today.

I was concerned about the lack of pass plays in the redzone.... There were none. There were none all season. Cya O. Not trusting your QB certainly dispelled any momentum you had in the HC contention.
Hate to burst your bubble, but they had a few attempts. Etling's scramble to the one when he got clocked was on a called pass play.
I agree O shouldn't be the coach and that he and Ensminger had a rough day, but get the facts straight.

He should have been thinking more about where he was supposed to go.

Bingo. He was already showboating "watch this".... and we all know how those thoughts usually end up...on and off the field.

I was not concerned about Guice. However, I was a little concerned when Donté Jackson was amping up the crowd before the kickoff return. Not that I predicted a fumble. Rather, just thought he should be looking the opposite way- and thinking about catching the ball, lanes, etc.
Easy to think/say in hindsight. But everyone will agree our players failed to channel their emotions properly. And collectively - whether Guice, LF7, Jackson and/or coaches - this led to the mental mistakes that cost us the game.
