yeah def. We are a tourney team at this point, but prob like an 8 or 9 seed.
people are excited because we are exceeding our expectations, and in the same breath acting like we are some top 10 team that deserves all these accolades

i agree again. I think its the fact we had 2 shitty years in a row combined with a football first type fanbase so any success in basketball and masses go crazy. I didn't expect us to struggle and be as bad as we were last year. Despite the sucking last year we had talent and we had it coming back. We aren't top 10 but we can hang with people.

Utah was a fluke game on the road in an unusual environment.
Xavier would be a better negative indicator, losing by 10 at home to a top 15 team, while we were running our game fairly well. Although at the same time, our shots just weren't falling that night like they have most other nights.
The team's real failing as a contender hasn't really cost us any games yet. The lack of any sort of scoring threat from the bench will hurt sooner or later though. (Or maybe we will get lucky and Terry Martin will continue to improve?)

i dont see xavier as a negative. yea we should have won bc we were at home but they are a top 10 team. we went cold and they still never really pulled away from us. we didn't go cold bc of their d either it was more of our own doing.

What the Utah game showed me was if we play a team with a solid post player, FORGET IT. We have NO ONE, that can match up defensively with a post player with size. I have to give Chris Johnson some credit against Arky because he had some monster blocks but he just doesn't have the muscle to do it all game. Arky made their run today by going inside. LSU is a scrapy team that plays with some moxie and, although undisciplined and streaky, are fun to watch. But we don't match up AT ALL with teams that have an inside presence. I'm just happy that the league is down this year and we can talk realistically about being in the conference race.
