yea we can just agree to disagree
fwiw i wouldnt think it was cool if ochinko did this unprovoked. Today if we get the first basemen as the last out I would laugh if we spiked the ball in return. If we just did it first then Id say it was stupid to do.
When coleman started celebrating after making a tackle 20 yards down field i was pissed. Im fine with players being excited but at some point it gets to be over the line.

And like the other guy said, baseball and football are two entirely different sports.
If anybody thinks there's nothing wrong with that and "all it is is just showing a little emotion", then why not have an LSU pitcher beam a fastball at his face on purpose. I mean afterall, it's just showing a little emotion right? See how ridiculous that sounds when talking about baseball?
And for what it's worth, the handoff after a homerun is nowhere near the spectrum of being the same thing as slamming the ball down and jumping up and down. Now if Dean was to hit a homerun and throw the bat down and hold his right hand over his eyes and watch the ball leave the park, that would be a bit much and I'd probably say something about that too. There's nothing wrong with being humble while succeeding. And I don't buy this "well it's the generation we have now" crap. People that believe that probably let their kids walk all over them and grow up to be little assholes and bitches in high school.

I'll just say that we can agree to disagree on this. I understand what you are saying though. But I would bet my last dollar that if it was Ochinko who had started doing that, it would be considered the coolest thing since sliced bread.
Then you would lose your last dollar.

for this game if we spiked the ball it would be funny. Once a team does that to you then id laugh if we do it back. Other wise its pretty douche

You're the #8 seed, barely make it to the tournament riding a 4 game losing streak and you beat the #1 seed, #2 team in the nation, show some emotion and you criticize the dude??? How about our relief picture acting like he just won the world series after closing out Georgia 16-0 to play them again? I did not understand why he was so jacked up, Georgia could have taken that as cocky and over the top. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that up 16-0.
Chill out, it's just kids showing emotion.

Ok once again, pitching an entire shutout game to win the game is not the same as turing a routine double play to get out of an inning. What is so hard to understand about that?

I'd be calling out Ochinko, et al., if they did it. It's premeditated toolbox douchieness at its worst.
Same here.
There are a lot of unwritten rules in baseball that don't apply to other sports. Most of these involve showing up the other team. It's what is commonly referred to as "Bush League." Classy coaches don't allow their players to continue to pull Bush League moves. And yes, there is a difference between showing emotion and showing up the other team...for those of you who have never played baseball.
If you choose to spike the ball on the mound after the 3rd out of every inning or pose at home plate while admiring your home run, that's your choice. Just don't be surprised if you catch a fastball between the numbers on your next at bat.
Watching the game w/Vandy the other night, I told my wife that Ross should give that guy some free dental work the next time he comes up. He just kept coming up with men on base and the situation wouldn't allow us to hit him.
Byrd, Matulis, or somebody better plunk this guy today.

It all depends on who your team is. Emotion is good as long as it does not go over the line.

I don't understand why we are comparing a touchdown celebration and a homerun celebration (basically equivalents of each other) with a guy not even making the last play of an inning, just the guy who catches the ball on the last play of an inning, he does nothing special and gets to jump up and down and showboat? FWIW, Bradshaw threw a complete game, he hasn't had that much success all year, he deserved to celebrate. And yes, if Ochinko did that shite, I'd look down on him.

I`m surprised the umps let it go.

I agree and again there's nothing similar about the spiked balls and the handoff.

And he will know exactly why to. He wants the other team to feel disrespected.
