When they lined up in the “oops all offensive linemen” formation with the TE at QB, which we had just defended successfully… that’s the look you want.

Play the run, and if they beat you with the TE throwing the ball that’s just a hat tip.

Instead you burn the TO and they change personnel; you’re all out of whack and can’t stop it. Almost should have knocked over the center and reset at the 1.5

I just don’t understand being baited into calling the timeout when you were in good position, giving them all the leverage.

It was the last play of the game either way so you didn't need the timeout later. They already used theirs so if they tried to get us to jump and it didn't work they would have to try from the 8.

The failure was not planning for the new package.

They were never running a play from that formation. It was a bluff. They came out in it again after the LSU TO and then called their own TO before putting in the real formation.

We were already out of whack. Somebody ran on late before the timeout.

How could you do so when they lined up and motioned so quickly and we couldn’t call TO?

My point is that we WERE prepared for the jumbo package, so calling TO there risked allowing them to line up in something confusing with no recourse.

I've been saying this since the game. If their TE gets 3 yards against our goaline defense then so be it.

They should've expected the QB draw, and maybe that's where Whit Weeks would've made a difference.

Exactly. So imagine if we don’t call TO: they call one and then have to come out in the set they plan on running because they can’t stop it again.

They come out in the spread, we see the middle vacate and call TO, at which point neither team has one and we got to see what they were actually planning on running. So they either have to go to something else or stick with what we’ve seen.

Ok now I see your point. Yes that’s valid.

It’s just disappointing because I thought this game theory type stuff is where Kiffin would excel. Instead he’s having self doubts and not thinking two moves ahead.
