With the recent death of Nelson Stokely, it makes me think of all the former LSU quarterbacks who have in most cases died at an early age. Trey Prather, Carl Otis Trimble, Mike Miley, Pat Screen, and now Nelson Stokely come to mind. Makes you realize how short life really is.

Champs, there is no need to disrespect the ones I mentioned with your "cute" post.

Forget about Gold Tiger, Champs.

There is nothing that can't be made better with levity.

Stokely died on Saturday; yet this is the first thread I read regarding his passing. I'm sure it was an oversight, but could someone shine some light on this??? Stokely was a Tiger through and through. Sure, in later years he landed at USL, but come on; he won a NC at Clemson.

Some of us old timers would add M.C. Reynolds to that list - decent qb for the Tigers in the mid-50s, had a decent pro career with the Chicago/St. Louis Cardinals. Died at age 56 several years ago.

Do the names Rex and Kyle Kipps ring a bell?

[quote]Mike Miley quarterbacked LSU in 1973 only to choose professional baseball in signing with the California Angels. Two years later, he was killed in a one-car accident in Baton Rouge, La. Carl Otis Trimble, one of those who replaced Miley at quarterback, died in a tubing accident the next year. It's hard to limit the subject to just LSU quarterbacks.

Think about how many present and former LSU athletes died untimely and especially tragic deaths.

And as a comment on the article mentioned: Lynard Skynrd's 1977 plane crash is well known.

What is not as well known is their destination was Baton Rouge for a concert at LSU.
