I guess all I'm trying to say is that with the SOS LSU has this season, I don't think they'll have to worry about style points.

I think what gmoney is talking about is the possibility of a loss.

Yeah, I understand. If people would rather play a lesser UNC team its one thing. Some people would rather play ULL than WVU too.

My point is simply this, that I would rather LSU beat a better UNC team than a lesser UNC team.

First of all, I will be surprised if any action is taken prior to the first week of the season. So this may all be moot.

Second, the two players rumored to be in trouble are Marvin Austin and their WR Little. Austin is a good player and would be a loss but they still have 10 other starters and--if you believe the hype-3 or 4 of them are also high NFL draft picks. It's still a great defense, with or without Austin.

As for Little...again if you believe the hype their offense sucks anyway. So, what's the big deal.

In sum, nothing is likely to happen and even if it does, its not a big deal.

Hopefully they both play. Even though their defense would still be great without Austin and their offense is really bad anyway, it would be seen in the media's eyes as a "diminished team." Plus, you'd have to hear it on the broadcast mentioned AT LEAST 5 times.

PLus it puts LSU in a no-win situation. Beat UNC, then you beat a diminished team. Lose, and all hell breaks loose.

Even if Marvin and Quinn are suspended they'll still have more than enough talent to compete. Let their fans and the media create excuses.

The loss of Little would be HUGE for UNC. He's the only legitimate playmaker on that side of the ball, so taking him away means more reliance on the running game. A one dimensional UNC offense would spell doom or the Tarheels.

We are discussing two separate, but related things.

That would be about par for the course for Miles lately. Gets the win that lots of people think he can't, only to be told he got the win because the other team wasn't a full strength. Meanwhile if Kelvin Sheppard and Patrick Peterson were to miss the game, and LSU loses, those same fans would scream that there are no excuses in football, and you play with what you got, or something like that.

Do you people always worry about things that you can't control? ... that's fricked up.

I completely disagree...no way UNC plays guys out there if they are under investigation. If it turns out they are ineligible, any wins would be forfeited. Additionally UNC will likely suspend the star LB that just got a DUI for at least a half (...should be the whole game if their coach cares about the integrity of his program).

At the end of the day, LSU can't control what UNC team shows up...at least we didn't schedule Houston or North TX. We also have WV on the schedule at home...this is teh strongest OOC schedule LSU has put out in recent memory. LSU will have plenty of chances to flex whatever muscle it has this year.

So here's the scenario we're discussing:

1. LSU beats full-strength UNC. I think we can all agree that's the best-case scenario.

2. LSU beats "depleted" (read: missing two players) UNC. Still a win, definitely not a bad thing, and the Tigers will have shots at other quality teams in SEC play.

3. LSU loses to UNC. This scenario sucks.

Sure, you want to beat UNC at full strength, but if LSU has a far better chance of WINNING the opener on national TV without these guys, I'd take beating the weaker team.

Besides, this is all out of LSU's control anyway, so let's wait and see.

It's not our fault if they can't play so gives a frick. We have one of the toughest schedules anyway so all I want is the win who cares what people say. If we lose 2 games with this schedule we have a legit shot to go to the NC

This was mentioned on SportsCenter last night. If the NCAA drags out the investigation (which they always do), UNC will be forced to make their own decision as to whether these guys can play. Most universities would play it safe, rather than take a chance with forfeiting the game down the road.
