Unbelievable

Dont post often but I read the boards a lot. Just want to say that i am amazed at the number of ppl that still defend miles and the offensive coaching staff after such a horrible season of 3 and outs. How long have we been discussing why players are not playing and why certain recruits dont pan out. There is a trend occurring with this football program. Everyone can argue the winning pct and bring up other bullshite arguments but no one can honestly say that even in 07 the team played to its potential. I want this program to stay on top more than anyone but if ppl cant see that we are missing on recruits and putting out an offense with plenty of talent and no productivity then they need to get their head out of their arse.

Who exactly is defending Miles? I hardly see anyone of the sort on this board.

I agree, it is like they watch a different game than we do. They are the same people that kept saying we are 5-0 and undefeated crap and look how that ended up.

Why does it bother you so much that people want to defend the coaches?

its not that ppl defend the coaches, its what they are defending them for.

you must be a coach, or you wouldn't have asked that dumb question.

Because no one wants to point out the things that do go right, the things that were improved, or the good decisions that were made.

I'll give the secondary coach mad props but chavis didn't let them use their ability on 3rd downs. He's so afraid of giving up the big play that he'll give up first downs. I will compliment chavis on the lb improvement though. The rest of the staff sucked.

well then for the sake of argument what can you point to on the offensive side of the football that was improved all year long because i think most would agree that the defense was much improved.

to have an offense ranked 100+ worst out of around 120 teams, and we've still got the leader of the offense gary crowton on the staff, is unfricking believable.

the problem, i believe, is with your definition of defending miles et al. i have not seen any post defending the way the offense played or was coached this year. my experience has been, as a poster, if i refute even the most minor of statements from someone (like miles being stupid or miles wanting to lose, etc), i getted pegged as a miles supporter. i like miles, but i am an LSU supporter and am realistic enough to know you can't fire a coach every damn year.

Most people here pay good money on LSU sporting events, when you pay top dollar you want top results, when you pay good money you have the right to bitch, with Les as the coach its going to get worse. I remember when people were happy when we only had two losses then 3, look how the team played not once did we look well coached

fans fall into roughly 4 categories...
- total homers: love the program, accentuate the positives, just wait til next year. Tend to point to bad luck or inexperience when looking at problems
- objective optimists: breaks down the game and season, typically looking for positives to build on and correctable mistakes
- objective pessimists: breaks down the game and season, typically looking for inherent flaws and trends that will continue to hurt the program, but will point out positives
- chicken littles (anti-homers): not one single thing went right, the wins were luck, the losses were easily preventable and were due to total incompetence, the program is falling off the face of the earth. Watches the game with the goal of becoming more outraged
I would say the board population right now looks about like this...
homers - 2%
objective optimists - 15%
objective pessimists - 25%
chicken littles - 58%
