Good to hear Tremont doing well and was a G League All-Star (updated after typo as pointed out below).
Tremont Waters could see more playing time with Boston

Congrats to Tremont and keep up the good work.

I like Tremont and wish him the best but he’s played 89 minutes all season with the Celtics and most of it has been garbage time. Naz is starting and nearly averaging double digits, that’s excelling.

Naz was always the better pro prospect, but Tremont also walked into a situation with tougher, deeper competition at his position. I really hope he breaks through.

I saw Naz play against the Mavericks in Dallas on February 24. Naz couldn't even guard the bathroom attendant. He was clearly a rookie playing a big man's game. He scored 6 points in 27 minutes. He started, but got 2 quick fouls in the first 2 minutes of the game. The rest of the night, Maverick Center, Kristaps Porzingis, schooled him. Of course, Naz was giving up 4 - 5 inches, but Naz should not have been on the same court. I watched Naz each time that he went to the bench and the coaches were constantly telling him what he was doing wrong. That teaching will pay off.

On March 1, Minn played Dallas again and Porzingis went off again, scoring 38 points and Naz had 9 points. Again, it just wasn't fair.

I am not saying Naz was not trying, but he has a long way to go in the NBA. He definitely would have benefited with another year in school, but congrats to him for getting to the show earlier than most thought. After 2 or 3 more years, he may be a star and I will always root for him.

Waters has been able to polish his game and excel at an accelerated rate in the G-League faster than he would have been able to in the NBA.

In Waters' case, at this time, being in the G league gives more reps. He averages 19 ppg and was the starting pg in the G League all-star game. So he's doing the work that will eventually move him up to the NBA level permanently.

so you're saying college would benefit him more than playing in the NBA? You think he would get better coaching and better competition? How would he benefit more in school than playing on an NBA team?

Nah. He was playing a role for us that didn't necessarily suit his strengths or what will make him a solid pro. He played his arse off in that role which is why I'll always appreciate him. But he had nothing to gain from another year here. He's getting paid to develop now and is doing pretty well.

Naz is averaging 12 points and 7 rebs in his 9 starts since the All-Star break, those are good rookie numbers. He’s coming off a week where he had 3 double doubles and a 14 rebound game vs the Pelicans and Zion. Sorry for facts, I didn’t mean to mess with your phony narrative.

Yeah...I don't think anyone is expecting him to hold his own against Porzingis as a rookie?

It’s amazing that we still have these ignorant basketball bandwagon fans who claim Naz was somehow a bust, first here as a 5* recruit, and now as a pro. At LSU he was the 18th overall recruit in his class yet outperformed his ranking by finishing in the top 8 in his class in both scoring and rebounding even though, unlike most of those guys, he wasn’t the number 1 option on his team. Now as an NBA rookie even though he went undrafted his overall ppg average has him ahead of multiple lottery picks and his averages as a starter would place him 11th among rookies in scoring and #1 in his class in rebounding. Some of our fans need to try watching basketball for more than 2 years before they pass judgment on these players. They obviously have no idea what they’re talking about.

yes, he would have benefited.
If he is released, that will be a black mark against him.
He would also have obtained more money w another year in college. Great player but raw.

Why do people only assume bad things will happen to players in the pros and good things will happen to them in college?

What if he comes back to school and has a down year or gets hurt? Then he doesn't sign a deal for 900K guaranteed (which is a lot of money!). What if he gets better with NBA coaching for his specific role (which is better than what he would be getting at LSU, because Wade first and foremost needs to win games) and earns a solid 2nd contract that sets him up for life?

I wan what is best for LSU. If players leave early and are successful, it can only help LSU's reputation.
Helps Wade get his share of top athletes.
