Tournament results and Regionals ... what if

We are ranked high and have a great RPI. That being said, what impact does the Tourney have on us in the grand scheme?
If we win it, does it get us a higher seed?
If we win a couple, do we rest our starters and stay seeded as we are?
If we have a bad showing, does it drop us down or even out of the top 8?
Not sure what importance the tourney has except for those that need a good showing to get in. They are fun, but do they really make a difference to Vandy, SC, LSU?

We're a top 8 lock. A tourney title would likely get us a top 3 seed. 2 and out would likely put us at a 6 or 7 seed. Right now i would say we are closer to a 6-7 seed than a 2-3 seed.

Do the 1-4 seeds get better/easier "draws?" Or is it mostly geographically driven?

There was talk going into this year of seeding 1-16 because under rule you can seed up to 25% of the field..idk why they didnt change it.

it is usually based on geography
example LSU has played rice a couple of times in the supers.
but they do sometimes have screwy regional pairs.

You may want to check the Projection thread. Our RPI is 6 which is a big factor

LSU is an absolute lock for a top 8 IMO. FSU, UNC and Virginia all play and will move themselves up or down according to the acc tournament probably.
If lsu and vandy both win a few games then they will be seeded very high (top 3).
If lsu loses- 2 and out or loses 2 of 3- and cal state wins their tournament then you are probably looking at a 4-5 seed behind vandy, cal st, two acc teams that do well in their tournament.
Under no circumstance do we drop out of the top 8 because teams behind us will also have to lose due to playing other top 8 seeds.

everything you said was spot on if you change the 6-7 to 4-5

I really want the #2 seed. what if all the other teams do bad in their tourney's and we win ours. we gotta get the #2 right? RIGHT?

which is exactly why I always assume the worst from the committee. except in this case I just don't see any way for us to be lower than a 5
