I know everybody has their own opinion about Miles and I just want to share mine and get some feedback. He is not a bad coach. He isn't extraordinary either, but I would call him a good...maybe great coach. The only thing that he has that other coaches similar to him don't, is luck.

I don't believe this ... He has had his share of misfortune --> 2010 Tennessee game & Tennessee game during Hurricane week a few years back ... was he "lucky" that night when we blew a huge lead and fell to Tennessee

quote:

Looking at statistics, he is up there with many of the great coaches of recent. During his tenure at LSU he is 56-14, with 2 SEC West titles, 1 SEC title, and a NC. Not bad for a 5 and a half year stint. He is also 4-1 in the post season as well as bringing in elite recruiting classes for the past 5 years.

Now, you're talking ... Let's look at win/loss and titles and above all else

Les has done a fine job here ... IMO

He may not be the motivator/recruiter/football mind Saban is, but honestly who is?

I think Les stacks up fairly well against Nicky in recruiting and on the field ... Les comes from an OL position and Nicky from a CB position. Les has maintained LSU's defensive ferocity after Saban left LSU. Kudos to Les. Little Nicky's offense against Spurrier (the offensive mastermind of all times in the SEC)was weighed carefully this past Saturday & was found wanting. Bama has not stomped a mudhole in LSU during Miles tenure here & we ain't scared of Lil Nicodemus no mo' & we gonna beat dat Tide azz in November

quote:

If you don't believe Saban isn't the best coach in the NCAA as of late(2000s) you're on another planet. When Saban is done, assuming he commits to coaching for a good while longer(and why wouldn't he?), he will be mentioned with the likes of Bowden, Spurrier, Joe Pa, Carroll, and Mack Brown. Comparing Miles to Saban is simply unfair. I know what I like to see. I like to see many wins and few losses, and that is what Miles has provided.

I'm a Martian that bleeds Purp & Gold, then, cuz I ain't drinking the Saban Kool-Aid

quote:

The point I'm trying to make is this. I am behind Miles as long as we are winning and as long as he is the head coach at my favorite school. Thoughts?

Too many listening to Matt Zemek (cfn.com) talking crap about Les Miles

I'm behind Miles until he decides to retire from LSU without regards to his win record because I know he's a great coach that the players love
and will come to LSU when recruited, and they will bust their asses for on the field for him, and they will always give 100%.

LSU fans spoiled by success since 2000 have tried to take all of the fun out of the game with their ignorant expectations of our Coaches and players.

These fans are not true fans because they put conditions on their loyalty ... Imagine if our players did that

Point taken I think Ridley should be the RB in any critical situation. But also if you watche Bama and SC Spurrier was taking Lattimore out in the second half when things got critical and Maddox was running the ball. Maybe some type of strategy involved?

lattimore was dinged. if you remember they were treating his forearm and they were concerned about him being able to hold onto the football. Maddox was running pretty tough as well.

I have no complaints, and I am a big Miles critic. Florida is lucky they did not lose by a huge margin. That being said. We let Lee start the drives. Get in the red zone and JJ comes in. We have a chance to go undefeated this year. Wow, can't believe I am saying this.

I'll tell you where Les was at fault big time.

With 9 minutes left in the game he goes conservative running the ball seemingly trying to run clock. It was far too early to even think that. He left JJ in there electing to "run" on Offense rather than allowing Lee to go for the jugular and put the game out of reach. Result - FLA regained the lead. Then, he decides to reinsert Lee. Lee delivers.
