For Athletic Members, pretty nice read now that signing day(s) are over. LINK

Because I can't link to the full article, i'll give some highlights.

quote:

22. Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU: The projected first-round draft pick proved to be a terrific corner when he finally got to play for LSU. He went through a lot to get there. Fulton received a two-year ban from the NCAA for tampering with a drug test during his freshman year. After a long, frustrating 19-month appeals process, he was ruled eligible in August 2018 and became a 25-game starter who earned second-team All-SEC honors. Brugler has Fulton going in the first round of his latest mock draft.

I think we can all agree about how happy we are that Kristian got all that settled and behind him. Looking forward to his hopefully successful NFL Career.

quote:

23. Rashard Lawrence, DL, LSU: Lawrence became a three-year starter and one of the many invaluable leaders who helped turn LSU into national champions. The second-team All-SEC selection and team captain finishes his Tigers career with 117 stops, 20 TFLs and nine sacks.

I think this sums it up well for Rashard. Played with a ton of heart, and he was a fantastic lineman for us. Hope he gets finds a good NFL home. I'll probably get skewerd for saying this, but I don't think it would be unfair to say his LSU tenure was somewhat "disappointing" from a statistical and NFL draft standpoint, given his recruiting rank going into it, but he was invaluable in the locker and the heart of our defense for much of his career.

quote:

55. Eric Monroe, S, LSU: Though Monroe has appeared in 29 games for the Tigers, he’s dealt with injuries and hasn’t found a way to break into the starting lineup. Perhaps his luck will change with more playing time as a fifth-year senior in 2020.

Sometimes forget he's on the team. Hope a good offseason and a new DC changes his fortune, and he can live up to his recruiting hype.

quote:

64. Michael Divinity Jr., LB, LSU: After a breakthrough season in 2018, the talented pass rusher went through a tumultuous one as a senior. Divinity was removed from the team a week before the Alabama game and received a six-game suspension for multiple violations of team rules. But he served his ban, rejoined his team for the national title game and did get to play in the win over Clemson.

What a pleasure to have Divinity step in to the shoes left by Devin White. Unfortunate to lose him for almost half the season, but goes to show how truly deep our defense was this year (though the whole country may not still believe it).

quote:

68. Ed Alexander, DT, LSU: Alexander struggled with knee injuries throughout his time in Baton Rouge but still played in 31 games and recorded 58 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. The nose tackle declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season and wasn’t selected. He got post-draft tryouts with the Seahawks and Buccaneers but did not make a team.

Another "don't you wish you would've stayed" story from an early declaree. Unfortunate to have a career plagued by injuries. Hope Ed finds a home soon.

General Thoughts
Les' last recruiting class. We lose to Wisconsin at Lambeau Field (fun game to attend, bummer for an outcome -- we should've won). Les loses his job 3 games later after the Tiger Bowl and Ed O is announced interim. We had just "lost out" on Jimbo the year before after Les won the thanksgiving game and was hoisted off the field. We then go on to "lose out" on Herman, and hire Ed. Fanbase is torn apart. Bama makes it to its 3rd straight national championship (losing to Deshaun Watson) and a lot of hope is lost for the Tigers. How far have we come!

Final Thought
quote:

48. Saivion Smith, CB, LSU: Smith left LSU at the end of his freshman year and spent a year at Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. before signing with Alabama. After starting 12 games for the Tide and picking off three passes, Smith decided he was ready to go pro. He went undrafted, got cut by the Jaguars before the 2019 season and is now a member of the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks.

Enjoy the XFL loser.

They should've discussed Savion Smith's issues like the did Kristian's.

Glad the better man and better player stayed with LSU.
