You are a moron because LSU wouldn't exist if it didn't have students.
How many of you pricks actually went to LSU? Are you seriously going to say that the students do not deserve the opportunity for tickets and that they be affordable?

Exactly why can they not allow all students to purchase affordable tickets?
Because this does not bring in enough money to be competative with other major athletic departments (re-read my original post)

With out a university there would be no Tiger football
And somehow the Universtiy is going to close if students don't get more seats? Elaborate please.

No, but if the university didn't have students, there wouldn't be a damn football team. I swear some of you fans need to take your thumb out of your arse before you respond to posts.

Again, the university will have students rather or not ANY of them get to go to the football games. So the fact that the University actually has students has nothing to do with the argument of rather or not they should get more seats in the stadium.
Big time athletics is a business. If you can sell a seat for $2500 per season, why in the world would you settle for giving it to a student for $500? This is the real world, not some sophmore sociology class.

Freshman are the only students who don't get tickets. It could and should be changed.
This isn't the NFL. The only thing that separates the college football from the NFL is the students(current and former).

Back in the day, we didn't have student tickets. We showed our id, it was clipped to show we were admitted and you sat where you wanted in the student section.
That can't happen now. Yes, in an ideal world, all students would be allowed to buy cheap tickets...but that's not going to happen.
You want quality facilities and coaches? You want to attract the best athletes to play, you need both. Student tickets can't finance that. The University on it's own can't finance that. Same with the state. So, we have TAF. It raises money which allows us to compete at the level we do.
Is it perfect? No, but it's the way things are in today's society.
As for me...I saw the team sing at the end of the game from my seats high in the upper east section.

Did you actually attend and graduate LSU?
I am blown away by your complete stupidity. No one argues the fact that it has become a big business; however, the product is the students(the student athletes, the student band members, the student cheerleaders, and the student section). If you cut out the students it is the NFL. There is absolutely no reason they can not allow freshman. Think of it as part of the social responsibility of the business and enhancing the overall product.

It isn't this gigantic increase. It would just be allowing the entire incoming freshman class the opportunity.

LSU should be expanding the student section... not the other way around. Tiger Stadium is NOTHING without the student section, much like any other stadium. It starts and ends with the students... do you ever see the players doing anything to get the East and West sides to get wild? No, they knows its the students who make LSU one of the most feared places to play in the country.

What this guy said. For the first time in 5 years I was not in the student section. I sat directly across in Section 417 in the South endzone. By the end of the third quarter I told the guy next to me that it was incredible how full the student section was while the rest of the stands were a third full at best.
Lucky me, my freshmen year was '03, so I got full tickets every year while at LSU. Every freshmen should have that opportunity. ANYONE who was ever been a student should understand that.

I have a feeling that is the problem. I don't think all these people were students.

The people who are arguing the fact that not all students should be allowed to go to the game are:
1) went to Southwestern (ULL for the young folks) and wished they could have experienced TS as a student and are now LSU fans because anyone in LA would be an idiot not to be
2) a rich millionaire TAF donor
3) Brian Broussard or Joe Alleva
4) just plain mean spirited
and no one said that LSU would cease to exist if the student section were to expand. Heck I just say they should at least keep it the same size (though my freshman son had to beg for tickets from friends last year). But students had to kick and scream for them to not take away 500-1000 tickets from themthis year. And their excuse was that students weren't coming or weren't staying the whole game making us look bad on tv (though everyone knows it was for the money.
They moved the band over to sell more expensive seats to TAF members and also said that "the band sounded better there."
bottom line is that students are what makes LSU football possible for us to go the TS on saturdays. No one said LSU would close if students couldn't go to the games, but being that they go there, pay tuition there, and are a lot closer to being alumni from LSU than a lot of people on this board ever have been and will be, they deserve and should have the right to buy tickets, and be at a discounted rate. The ignorance of some people is bewildering. But that's what I've come to expect reading here for years

In my opinion, being an alumni makes them more my team than yours (Student)

Did you think you should get tickets as a student?

You're an idiot. How is a team comprised of students more your team than the students' team?
ETA: I had to add more just because that is a completely asinine statement. Please explain your logic.

There are numerous reasons all of the LSU students can not be given seats to the game (most of which I have already enumerated).
And yes, I did attend and graduate from LSU (as did all of my sibling, both parents and three grandparents). I also sat of the Board of Supervisors.

As a former student I think your point is stupid. I pay thousands of dollars for tickets. If the game wasn't so close the students would have left at halftime like always because it's a social event for them. You still have tons of tickets. If you can keep the section full all year I'll agree with you but after one game?? Absolutely retarded. Try supporting other sports too and not just hopping on the band wagon in the good years.
For the record. I haven't left a game early since I was about 7.

1. Entire end zone should be the student section for certain games (Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc...) All students should be able to purchase season tickets for these big games.
2. For smaller games and OOC games, make the student section half as large and sell the other half to the general public through the box office on game day. So that average joe can take his boy/girl to go see a game in Death Valley.
3. Jack up prices on the luxury boxes, and season passes on the lower levels again... if you can afford it at this price you can afford it more expensive, if you can't someone else can.
4. The biggest thing I miss about Baton Rouge is Tiger Stadium on Saturday Nights. I always thought the coolest thing about LSU was all the students got tickets to all the games unlike UGA, USC, and some other schools in the SEC. Guess that has changed.
