The dude loves LSU and realizes that he screwed up. He wants to come back and will if he can keep his shite together and not lose sight this time. The plan has already started with him going to Tejas to get clean.

Well said. He needs to have his head on right. HB7 has genius inside of him that still needs to come out.
This should be likened to a sabbitical and hopefully we'll see a new and improved HB7 in 2013. I want to see him ignite Tiger Stadium with some game changing,electrifying plays.

If the kid is in rehab for "weed" he has a terribly addictive personality and the rehab will just be the begining of a lifetime of 12 step meetings. Are their any AA or NA members here that know anybody that goes to their classes for weed?

What did I miss? Sounds like people thinking that a visit to a psychiatric hospital will "cure" addiction to me. I'm just saying if it's a true addiction it is a problem that will be dealt with for a lifetime of 12 step meetings.

Maybe he's trying to make a step in that direction by going to rehab.

If anybody knows him, he should read The Heart of the Soul. This is an excellent book for anger, addictions, rage, and many other issues dealing with emotion and thought. If he can become aware of his emotions and control them, he will be absolutely unstoppable.

Not necessarily. Read the thread again. It sounds like he's taking a break from school this fall(as well, of course, football) and if that's the case, he can use that time away from the daily grind of school and football to get his head right and then get back in school and football at a later time, perhaps in the spring. I think people are encouraged about him doing that.

Before? Damn, hope he takes advantage of his time there and buys in to what they say and teach. The sad facts are that more drug addicts die of their addiction than get clean. I wish him the best in his journey.

He's in a good place and in good hands. He was on a self destructive path that would have eventually ended far worse then this. If he gets it together and stays course, he will be a better person.

At first I was mad at him and thought it was selfish of him to do what he did. After a day or so I calmed down and forgave him. He was my favorite player this last year and he was a badass who made some badass plays. He gave me enough good memories that I cant be mad at him just for wanting to get high...I mean we all wanna get high on something and we are mostly white people that are doing way better than the average American. Anyways, I thank TM7, I wish him the best, I hope he gets better, and I hope he is happy no matter what he ends up doing.

IMO, everything has happened so fast for him in less than a year. Going from a virtually unknown role player, to even the biggest LSU fans, to a household name with all the accolades of being arguably college football's biggest star last season. He needed to be humbled so, he didn't completely lose his way.

It's more than just weed or a possible addiction. Pot was probably just a release from his pressure filled, spotlighted world. Every move judged by the people he knows closely and the millions who know him as the honey badger. The vast majority of us don't understand what he was going through, so it's easy for us to guess, but the truth is usually more complicated, involving many factors. Imagine going from a small high school player, to being a big point of interest in college football in almost no time. He became a fan favorite almost immediately his true freshman year. Dealing with football, school, and personal pressures isn't easy, especially for someone in his position. At least he's trying to improve himself, instead of blaming others, which many others would have done.
