Rob Brooks ran a 4.37. Brooks was faster than TM7. That is a fact. I don't care what you want to believe. I am just answering your statement that you love how people are guessing his time. It is unrealistic for TM to get anything in the 4.3 range. Griffins official time I believe was a 4.41. He isn't as fast as Griffin IMO.
Mathieu will make his money off of instincts on the field, his ability to tackle in the open field and his special teams value.

Not necessarily true. You can only get so fast when your at top speed, but there are ways to get better times. Technique, agility, foot speed, etc. Working on your starts, 10 yard splits, and finished will help shave time off the clock. Just because your top speed isnt as fast as anothers, doesnt mean you cant have a better 40 time. The most important thing in a 40 is the start and first 10 yards. There is ways to get a better time just by working on that alone.
And there is a reason coaches and scouts look at the 10 yard splits. It shows who is the most explosive and quickest in the 1st split, and it shows whose top end speed is faster at the 4th split.
my point pretty much broken out and better explained..Thanks

Yeah, there is no way Cam Newton and Andrew Luck are equally as fast as each other. To say so would be asinine.
I would be EXTREMELY surprised if Mathieu ran in the 4.3s. RGIII ran an official 4.41 +/- a few milliseconds.
Dear fricking me, if he continued on the track route, he would be in the Olympics.
ETA: Running hurdles is way different than the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Races emphasize more form and steps thrown in with speed.

In track, Griffin broke state records for the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. He ran the 110-meter hurdles in 13.55 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 35.33 seconds. The 300 hurdles time was 1/100th of a second short of tying the national high school record at the time. He was also a gold medalist in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles on the AAU track and field circuit. In 2007, as a junior, he was rated the No. 1 high school 400-meter intermediate hurdler in the country, and was tied at No. 1 for the 110-meter sprint hurdler in the nation. His personal best in the 110-meter hurdles, 13.46 sec, ranked fifth in the world among junior athletes,[6] while his personal best in the 400-meter hurdles, 49.56 sec, was World Junior Leading in 2007.[7] Also as a junior, Griffin received the Gatorade Texas Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year award,[5] and was named to USA Today's 2007 All-USA Track and Field team.

That is correct, which is my point. I am not bashing Mathieu as a player or anything. I am just saying I don't think a 4.3 is realistic. I don't think the people saying that he will run a 4.3 realize how rare anything in the 4.3 range actually is. To say he will run 4.45-4.5 is not like it is an insult.

Brooks and Mathieu are two totally different kind of athletes. Brooks ideally is a solid nickel corner back in the pros. But, Mathieu has the ability to be a hybrid at different positions in the secondary.

What is your point?
We were talking about speed and now you are talking about what type of player they will be in the NFL. Your comment has absolutely nothing to do with running times.

Its extremely rare. Pretty sure most people on here know that. But, if hes running in the 4.4s right now, shaving off a few 100ths of a second is not unrealistic. Its unrealistic to say a guy with average athletic ability that runs a 4.6 can run a 4.3. But, Tyrann is an exceptional athlete who can run in the 4.4s. Shaving off a few milliseconds isnt unrealistic for him. But, I say again, I dont think he will run a 4.3. I think hes a mid to low 4.4s.

We shoulda ran more plays using JJs vertical jump skills.

I thought we had moved on from the whole speed conversation. It's fairly obvious that Mathieu isn't going to beat RG3's stats in the combine.

ok so now your ranging from 4.45 to 4.5 yes this is more of a range than 4.5-4.55 or 4.6...i personally and IMO think he is in a mid 4.4s and with the right coaching and technique he can very realistically come to a 4.39...will i think he make it no...i think 4.43-4.47 is more of his range IMO

Agree 100%.
And im not really interested in what TMs 40 time will be. He will run below 4.5 and that is fast enough to play football. Im more curious to see what his weight will be. If he can bulk up to 200-210 lbs, he will be a SS/ Rover and he has the potential and play making ability to be a Polamalu type player. Of course it will matter which team takes him. System, structure, and leadership will be extremely important for TM to make it in the pros.
TigerStripes, we are on the same page today

Ran 100m and 200m in HS, fastest time was 10.9 for the 100m. I cringe to think how much faster I could've been with a faster start. I had a slow 40 time because I wasn't the fast out of the blocks

I wish him the best and hope he can make something positive happen in his life but,in my opinion, he is the epitome of selfishness. He let his team, his school and himself down !
