I didn't "die" on any hill. I made several points, and you managed to miss almost all of them by only pointing to one and failing to even understand what I said on that one.
You just refuse to get it. Private schools in major conferences are rare. But those rare schools all have huge advantages, with the rules plus the money they have vs schools like those in the IVY League. Vandy used to suck at baseball. You know what changed? Severe scholarship limits on all of their competitors.
And the in state argument? If a kid is looking at Texas schools as possible destinations, there are a lot to choose from, including other private schools like Rice and Baylor. Vandy doesn't have to compete with that, and they are in the SEC. That's where most of the top talent is looking to go first, before they start looking elsewhere. To compare TCU to Vandy makes little sense, and yet, it isn't as if TCU hasn't had a lot of success. That you would use them as an example to counter my point is mystifying.
