he wasn't called up. he tore ligaments in his ankle during spring training his first full season in baseball (2010) when the mlb teams have expanded rosters. but no, he's never been called up. he made it to AAA for a couple of different stints, but his batting average has been below .200 most of the time and he strikes out more than a third of his at bats. He actually started the season a couple years ago batting .050, which is when Chicago released him.
