As others have said, equipment has been changed to help level competition on the field.
11.7 scholarships has hurt LSU a great deal, while it has helped spread players around to the point that there is a great deal of parity in college baseball over the past ten years.
When a coach has to rely on TOPS to get some players, and thankfully Louisiana has TOPS because the NCAA appears to desire limiting baseball, both scholarships and full-time, paid coaching. What exact miracles do we expect?

I believe limit on full time coaches is one of the biggest stumbling blocks in college baseball.

Just yesterday there were people calling for the indoor volleyball coach's head.
The softball coach's head.
The baseball coach's head.
Luckily the other programs were idle yesterday.
The indoor volleyball team was idle but when the Tards saw the beach VB team play for a chance to be in the title game they naturally wanted the indoor coaches fired.
